5.7.4 External effects
For external effects that are added via an Aux way:
1)
As described in chapter 533: For each of the input channels whose
signal is to be provided with effects, use the corresponding Aux
Send control to adjust the signal part desired
2) As described in chapter 53: If required, route the input channels
to which the effect signals have been returned to the sum channel
MAIN and /or the subgroups and /or add them to the monitor ways
3) In the screen view “Mixer” or “Long Faders” or in another view,
use the faders of the input channels to which the effect signals
have been returned to set the total volume of the respective effect
4) If required, process the signal of the Aux way that is fed to the
effect unit, e g adjust the sound with the parametric equalizer
(
chapter 551) or process the dynamic range with the com-
pressor (
chapter 542)
5) If required, process the effect signal in its input channel, e g ad-
just the sound with the parametric equalizer (
chapter 551) or
process the dynamic range (
chapter 54)
For external effects inserted into an input channel (
chapter 47):
1) Adjust the input gain at the effect unit so that it perfectly matches
the signal If required, use the control GAIN (1) to adjust the signal
level
2) Set the output level of the effect unit in such a way that the input
channel is perfectly adjusted With the indication for the Solo
function switched off [key SOLO METER (5) not illuminated], the
level on the level indicators (3) should be approx 0 dB The CLIP
LEDs must never light up for signal peaks; otherwise, the signal
will be distorted
3) At the effect unit, set the desired ratio between the original signal
and the effect signal
