5.6.1 Copying channel characteristics
For a fast adjustment of similar channels, the mixer offers the possi-
bility to copy all or specific settings of a channel to other channels
1) Select the input channel or sum channel to be copied
2)
Call up any screen view which includes the button “Copy”, such as
the view “Assign” or “Channel” or a view for sound adjustment
or dynamic-range processing
3) Tap the button “Copy” The screen view for the copy function will
be called up In this view, the channel currently selected (= copy
source) will flash; in addition, the corresponding key will flash as
well
4) Use the keys (7, 8, 11) or tap the appropriate field on the screen
to select the channels to which the settings are to be copied The
keys of the channels selected will light up and the lettering of the
corresponding buttons will change to “ON”
To deselect an unintentionally selected channel, press the key again
5)
Use the options at the bottom of the screen to define the settings to
be copied Tap the fields to tick-select () the settings to be copied
To remove a tick, tap the field again; the corresponding settings of
this field will then not be copied to the channels selected
Note: The option “Gain” does not refer to the input gain via the control
GAIN (1) as described in chapter 51 but to the volume adjustment of the
channel via the fader (24)
6)
To start copying, press the key ENTER (20) or tap the button “Copy”
in the lower right of the screen
To cancel the copy process, select a different view
7)
To select a different channel as the copy source without exiting the
copy view, tap the button “Previous Channel” or “Next Channel”

5.7 Mixing signals
Once the input signals have been matched and, if required, their
dynamic range has been processed and their sound adjusted, the
actual task of a mixer will start: adding the signals to the outputs As
a matter of course, there is no clear-cut order of all operating steps:
Sometimes, the sum channel MAIN is already used during sound
adjustment in order to monitor, via the amplifier system, the channel
to be set; on the other hand, it is sometimes necessary to adjust the
settings of an input channel during mixing

To set the signal parts of a channel for the sum
signal MAIN and /or for the subgroups (depending on
the assignment defined
chapter 53), the faders
(sliders) of all channels can be used The motor fader
of the mixer (24) is always assigned to the channel
currently selected; when another channel is select-
ed, the motor fader will immediately be set to the
current value of this channel The channel fader is
available on various screen views: tap and drag the
channel fader to use it as an alternative to the motor
fader Above the fader, the gain value for the current
level setting is shown (in dB) A small bar beneath
the gain value indicates the current position of the
signal in the stereo panorama The current signal
level (ahead of the fader) is indicated to the right
of the slider The boxes , , , and indicate
the assignment to the subgroups and to the sum
channel MAIN Above this indication, coloured boxes
are shown; they indicate whether a noise gate (yellow),
a compressor (green) or an equalizer (blue) is used
and whether the phantom power supply is activated
(red)
Fig. 18 Fader
“Mute” will be shown above the fader and “Solo” beneath the fader
when the respective functions are active The channel name shown
beneath “Solo” is preset to the channel number and can be changed
(
chapter 61)
Two screen views are available for mixing: the view “Mixer” (fig 20)
displaying all channels, and the view “Long Faders” (fig 21) providing
an enlarged representation of the faders on multiple pages To call
up the view “Long Faders”, press the key MIXER (22) Press the key
repeatedly to change between the views “Long Faders” and “Mixer”
The system settings (
chapter 622) define the view to be displayed
when the mixer is switched on
3.0dB
CH01
In the screen view “Mixer”, the functions “Mute”
and “Solo” are provided as boxes next to the mini-
ature representation of the fader The enlarged
fader on the view “Mixer” indicates the channel
currently selected
Fig. 19
The right side of both mixer views always shows the fader for the sum
channel MAIN This fader can be operated via the motor fader when
“MAIN” has been selected; however, it is also possible to adjust the
fader with the rotary knob MAIN (25) at any time To the left of the
rotary knob MAIN, a rotary control for each subgroup is available that
can be used to adjust the level of the respective subgroup For the
stereo inputs CH 17/18 and CH 19/ 20, two additional rotary controls
(2) are provided
