remove the pin (1) then reposition
the wheel (2) in the upper or lower
hole of the wale shown on the dia-
gram.

Tostartcutting:
– putthe acceleratorintothe«FASposition;
– bringthe cuttingdeckto thehighestposition;
– engagethe blades( 4.9);
– startmovingforwardsontothegrassareaverygraduallyandwith
particularcaution,aspreviouslydescribed;
– adjust theforward speed andthecutting height ( 4.6) accord-
ing to the lawn condition (height, density and dampness of the
grass).On flatground, thesegeneralconditionscanbefollowed:
High anddense grass- wetlawn 2,5 km/h
Averagecondition grass 4 ...6 km/h
Low grass -dry lawn over 6km/h
he speed is controlled in a gradual and progressive way by the
pressureonthedrivepedal.
Whencuttingonslopingground,theforward
speed must be reduced to ensure safe conditions ( 1.2 -
5.5).
In any case, the speed should always be lowered if you note a re-
ductioninenginespeed,sinceaforwardspeedthatistoofastcom-
paredtotheamountofgrassbeingcutwillnevermowthegrasswell.
Disengagethebladesandputthecuttingdeckinthehighestposition
wheneveryouneed togetpastanobstacle.
5.4.6 Emptyingthegrass-catcher
Donotletthegrass-catcherbecometoofullasthismayblockthecol-
lectorchannel.Whenthegrass-catcherisfullthereisanintermittent
audiblewarning.
Atthispoint:
– lowertheenginespeed;
– go into neutral (N) ( 4.22 or 4.32/33) and stop forward move-
ment;
– engagethe parkingbrakeonslopes;
– disengagethe blades( 4.8)andtheaudiblesignalwillstop;
Emptying the grass-catcher can onlybedone
with the blades disengaged, otherwise the engine stops.
– pulloutthelever(1)( 4.9.1)andtipupthegrass-catcherto
emptyit;
– closeupthe grass-catcher sothatithooks ontothe pawl stop
(2)and putthelever(1)backintoplace.

The pedal has to be released gradually
as a sudden engagement may cause tipping up and loss
of control ofthe vehicle.
Graduallyreachthedesiredoperatingspeedusingtheaccelera-

or andgear lever.Tochange thegearspeed theclutch mustbe
usedpushingthepedaldownhalfway ( 4.21).
Putthe acceleratorleverinamidwaypositionbetween«SLO
and«FAST».
Disengage the parking brake and release the brake pedal
(
4.31).
Press the drive pedal forward ( 4.32) and go to the required
speed bygradually increasing pressure onthepedal andpress-
ingthe acceleratorappropriately.
Drivemustbeengagedinthewayalready
described ( 4.32)to preventsudden engagementfrom
causing tipping up andloss ofcontrolof thevehicle, par-
ticularly onslopes.
5.4.3 Braking
First,reducethemachine’sspeedbyreducingtheengine’sr.p.m.and
then push the brake pedal ( 4.21 or 4.31) to further reduce the
speeduntil themachinestops.
The machinealreadyslowsdownconsiderably
by just releasing the drive pedal in forward or reverse.
5.4.4 Reverse
ReversemustbeengagedONLYwhenthemachineisstopped.
Pushdownthe pedaluntil themachinestopsand theninsert re-
versebymovingtheleversidewaysandputtingitintoposition«R»
( 4.22).Gradually release the pedaltoengage the clutch and
thenbegin movinginreverse.
When the machine is stopped, start the reverse movement by
pressingthedrivepedalinthe«R»direction( 4.33).
5.4.5 Grass-cutting
When youhave reached theareatobe mowed,makesure thatthe
grass-catcherorstone-guardispositionedcorrectly.
Thecuttingdeckwheels(1)areincludedsothataspaceisalways
keptbetweenthegroundandtheedgeofthecuttingdecktopre-
ventthelawndamageifthegroundisuneven.
