Loosenthecarburetordrainscrew(2),anddrainthefuelintoanap-
provedgasolinecontainer.Tightenthecarburetordrainscrew.
Removethe twospark plugsand pourabout a tablespoonofclean
e
ngineoilintothecylinders.Inordertodistribuitetheoilinthecylin-
dersevenly,cranktheengineduring1or2secondsusingthestarter
motor, turning the starter key; then reinstall the spark plugs
( 6.4.5).
Petrol is highly flammable. Store the fuel in
special containers. Always put the tank and fuel container
caps back on andtighten well.
The battery must be keptina cool and dry place.
Before along storage period (more than 1 month), always charge
the battery, only with the specific charger supplied with your ma-
chine, and then recharge before using again ( 6.2.3).
Thenexttimethemachineisused,checkthattherearenofuelleaks
fromthetubesor carburettor.
5.4.13 Card protection device
Theelectroniccardhasaself-resettingprotectorwhichbreaksthecir-
cuitifthereisafaultintheelectricalsystem.Itresultsinthestopping
oftheengineandanaudiblesignalwhichcanonlybestoppedbyre-
movingthekey.
Thecircuitautomaticallyresetsafterafewsecondsbutthecauseof
thefaultshould beascertained anddealt withto avoidre-activating
theprotectiondevice.
To avoid activating the protection device:
do not reverse the leads on the battery terminals;
do not use the machine without its battery or damage may be
caused to the charging regulator;
be careful not to cause short-circuits.
5.5 USINGONSLOPING GROUND
Only mowing inany case on themaximum gradients already men-
tioned(max 10° - 17%),lawns ona slopehaveto bemowed mov-
ing up and down and never across them, taking great care when
changingdirectionthatthehighestwheelsdonothitobstacles(such
as stones, branches, roots, etc.) that may cause the machine to
slidesideways,tipoverorotherwisecauseloss ofcontrol.
REDUCE SPEED BEFORE ANY CHANGEOF
DIRECTION ON SLOPES, and always engage the parking
brake before leaving the machine stopped and unattended.
Take care when beginning forward move-
ment on sloping ground to prevent the risk of tipping up.
Reduce the forward speedbefore going ona slope, particu-
larly downhill.

Cleantheplasticpartsofthebodywithadampspongeusingwater
anddetergent,takingcarenottopuwaterontheengine,theelectri-
calpartsortheelectroniccardlocatedunderthedashboard.

ever use hose-nozzles or harsh detergents for
cleaning the body and engine!
Forwashingtheinsideofthecuttingdeckandthecollectorchannel
themachine mustbeonfirmgroundwith:
– thegrass-catcher
orstone-guardfitted;
theoperatorseated;
– theengine running;
– thetransmissioninneutral;
– theparking brakeengaged;
– theblades engaged.
Connectawaterhosetothepipefittings(1)alternating,andrunwa-
terthroughforafewminutes each,withthebladesturning.
Whenwashing,the cuttingdeckshouldbefullylowered.
Thentakeoffthegrass-catcher,emptyandrinseit,andthenputitin
aposition whereitcandryquickly.
To avoid impairing the efficient working of the
electromagnetic clutch:
prevent the friction from coming into contact with oil;
do not direct jets of high-pressure water directly onto theclutch
unit;
do not clean the clutch with petrol.
5.4.12 Storageand inactivityforlong periods
If the machineis likelytobeunused for alongperiod (more than 1
month),disconnecttheground(black)cablefromthebattery.Lubri-
cateall jointsasdirected( 6.2.1).
Carefully remove any dry grass cuttings
which may have collected around the engine or silencer to
preventtheircatchingfirethenexttimethemachineisused!
Emptythefueltankbydisconnectingthetubesituatedattheinletof
thefuel filter(1).
Reconnectthefueltube.
