ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE
To align the mirrors:
1. Loosen locking screw (Fig. 1.3, page 1) on the mirror holder until the mirrors can be
adjusted by hand.
2. Point the mirror as accurately as possible towards its corresponding mirror on the
opposite pillar. Over large distances, use the periscope. A flashlight can be used to help
locate the opposite pillar.
3. Tighten the locking screw of the mirror until it is no longer possible to adjust it by hand.
4. Adjust the mirror on both devices with the key until the alarm LED (Fig. 1.6) switches to
dark.
Range of adjustment
The parabolic mirrors can be adjusted horizontally by
approximately ?90° and vertically approximately ?15°.
Consequently, the devices do not have to point in only one
direction. A spanner has been included to make fine
adjustments.
Note that when installing the devices inside pillars, the
adjustment range is reduced.
Mechanical alignment by using a periscope
Insert the periscope support into the top pair of mirrors of the
transmitter and, looking through the periscope, carefully position
the mirror so that you can see in its center the corresponding
mirror on the opposite pillar. Repeat for the other mirrors of the
transmitter and receiver. If there is a large distance between the
transmitter and receiver, use a flashlight to help locate the
opposite pillar.
Electro-optical alignment
To precisely align the receiver use the alignment control device (available as an accessory) or an oscilloscope
which can be connected to the test points SIG (Fig. 1.9) and GND (Fig. 1.11) (for an older version of the
alignment control device, change SIG and GND). An optional radio controlled module can be adapted to clamp
RF (Fig. 1.4). The alignment is correct when a maximum number of the LED’s light up on the alignment control
unit.
