Starting up and switching off the engine

Observe safety provisions!
Put the power tool level and free from obstacles on the flat floor Start-up position. Avoid any contact
between the cut-off wheel and body parts or objects.
Î Before every starting attempt press the
decompression valve (21)
x Put one foot on the rear handle (6) to support the
power tool against the floor.
x Securely hold the power tool at the top handle (4)
with one hand and push it firmly onto the ground.
x Operate the starter handle with the other hand (16).
Other start-up positions are not permissible!
Cold start:
x Pull the choke lever (19) (this also activates the part-throttle setting).
x Using the starter handle, start the engine until you hear it briefly ignite.
Note: the engine cannot start up and continue running while the choke lever is pulled out.
ÎAfter the first audible ignition, immediately:
x Press the choke lever back in again.
x Continue starting until the engine runs
x The engine is then running in part throttle.
x Briefly operate the throttle control to cancel the part control setting.
x The engine will then continue to run at idle speed.
Warm start:
x Start the engine in idle setting with the choke not pulled out
The following notes serve to increase the service life of the starter mechanism:
x Initially pull out the starter handle (16) slowly until resistance can be felt for start-up (upper dead point of
the piston).
x Then quickly and strongly pull through the starter handle.
x Always pull out the rope straight.
x Do not let the rope scrape across the rope eyelet edge .
x Danger of breaking rope!
Do not pull out the rope to the stop.
x Always return the starter handle to its initial position – do not let it snap back.
Damaged starter ropes can be replaced by specialist workshops authorised by us.
Release the throttle control and push the one-touch stop button.
Ensure that the cut-off wheel has stopped before putting down the power tool.
