Insert the locking pin to lock the gearbox
drive shaft. Centre the appropriate cutter on
the boss washer (5) and position onto the
gearbox drive shaft. Locate the deep disc (6)
and secure with the disk spring (7) and lock
nut (8) Please note: Left hand thread! Tighten
the nut anti-clockwise.
4. Note: The thrust piece has been incorrectly
fitted if the cutter can still be turned, even if
the nut has been fully tightened and the gear-
box drive shaft has been locked. In such cases,
repeat the installation correctly.
5.7
Line head installation (models 106L and 106R)
1. Note: When mounting the line head, the
boss washer (Fig. 13.5), the deep dish (Fig.
13.6), the disk spring (Fig. 13.7) and the lock
nut (Fig. 13.8) will not be required.

2. Position the clamp (2) in the correct way
(with the angled edge pointing towards the
gearbox) on the gearbox output shaft (1).
Turn the gearbox input shaft with the clamp
so that the recess for the locking pin (3) is
flush with the recess in the winding protection
(4) or the gearbox housing. Insert the locking
pin to lock the gearbox drive shaft. The com-
plete line head with additional line winding
protection (A) is threaded onto the gearbox
drive shaft and against the thrust piece. Please
note: Left hand thread! Tighten the line head
clockwise.
3. The spacer (5) and the line trimmer
blade (6) must be mounted to the
contact protection shield.
5.8 Shoulder strap
1. Properly locate the shoulder strap (part of
the standard delivery of model 106, optional
accessory for model 105). To install the shoul-
der strap on models 105, 106L and 106R, two
plastic clips are mounted on the handle tube
between the function handle with throttle
lever and the loop handle. Hook the shoulder
strap into the plastic clips. When using the
motor scythe on the r.h. side of your body,
position the single shoulder strap over your
l.h. shoulder, so that, after adjusting the strap
length, the strap hook is located at your r.h.
hip. When using the motor scythe on your l.h.
side (only with the loop handle and the safety
end-stop installed pointing to the right), pro-
ceed vice-versa. The motor scythe cannot be
precisely balanced via the shoulder strap when
using the loop handle. Continue to guide the
motor scythe via the loop handle.
2. Install the shoulder strap for model 106B as
follows:
3. Note: Always lead the motor scythe with
the two-handed bike handle on the r.h. side of
the body.
4. Before commencing work, adjust the shoul-
der strap and handle according to the opera-
tor’s body size.
Position the single shoulder strap over your l.h.
shoulder, so that, after adjusting the strap
length, the strap hook is located at your r.h. hip.
After hook (1) has been hooked into the
shoulder strap rail on the protection tube,
balance the motor scythe with fitted cutter so,
that the cutter just touches the ground, with
out touching the suspended motor scythe
