ROTWILD USER MANUAL | 2014
You can now adjust the horizontal position of
the saddle and its angle.
When tightening the retaining screws, make
sure that the front tip of the saddle has only a
minimal dip towards the front to ensure that
the genital area is not unnecessarily stressed
while cycling.
Tighten theretaining screws with the appropri-
ate torque (10 Nm).
Stand to one side of the bike and check from
above whether the saddle rocks by alternately
applying pressure to the tip and the rear of
the saddle. The position of the saddle should
not change.
Saddle replacement
Should you be considering replacing the standard
saddle, please note that the seat post is intended
for a saddle rail diameter of 7 mm. Other rails
may lead to failure of the post and serious falls.
Always use a torque wrench. Torque
10 Nm.
BRAKES
Your ROTWILD bike is equipped with effici-
ent, hydraulic disc brakes with which you, as
opposed to conventional rim brakes, can always
brake your bike precisely and safely, even under
wet conditions. As the rims are not subjected
to wear, a further advantage of disc brakes is
that they require relatively little maintenance. In
the case of wheel damage, (e.g. circumferential
(oval) or lateral (figure of eight) deformation) the
correct function of your brakes is not affected.
Tips for correct braking
Before each ride, run a stationary test of
your brakes by operating the brake levers
while the bike is standing. You should not be
able to squeeze the levers all the way to the
handlebar grips. If the point of resistance is
not reached after three-quarters of the lever
stroke it is necessary to readjust your brakes.
Always brake with both front and rear brakes
simultaneously and note that the front brakes
can apply a considerably greater braking
force through the shift of mass towards the
front.
In the case of emergency stops, shift your
weight towards the rear.
In the standard configuration, the left-hand
brake lever applies the front wheel brake and
the right-hand lever the rear wheel brake.
If you wish to change this configuration,
please have the modification carried out in a
qualified professional workshop.
Brake pads
New brake pads must be „run-in“ before they
achieve their maximum braking performance.
Experience shows that bikes should be accele-
rated to 20 kph and gradually braked to a stand-
still several times. Worn brake pads can no
longer provide sufficient braking performance
and may also damage the brake discs.
Note
ROTWILD bikes have efficient disc brakes
and no back-pedal braking, so be careful
to familiarise yourself with the braking
characteristics of your bike. You should pay
particular attention to your bike‘s behaviour
in emergency braking situations by testing
in a traffic-free are until you have got used
to your brakes and have complete control of
your bike.
Please note that the brake discs become ex-
tremely hot during braking. Let the discs cool
after braking before you touch them – there is
a potential risk of burns!
Always make sure that no traces of lubricants
