Curve set-up
FX-40
SETTING CONTROL CURVES / MIXER CURVES
The method of setting transmitter control travels and curves has also
been standardised in the inter
ests of ease of operation. The transmitter
offers pre-programmed and freely variable curves for the programm-
able mixers and mixer functions as well as all twelve control functions.
The software initially suggests 2, 3, 5, 7 or 9 points according to the
Select menu, but the user is free to vary the actual number of points
within the range 2 to 17 when dealing with the free curves (line and
curve).
The method of setting up and adjusting these curves is the
same for all the Set-up menus, and the pr
ocess occurs very
fr
equently. For this reason it would be a waste of space to
repeat the description every time, so the following section is
presented only once, and can be applied to all the other
27
This section deals with the method of setting the characteristics of a
transmitter control, using the transmitter control travel (AFR) menu as
an example.
When you select the AFR menu the software suggests the default line-
ar 3-point curve. If you press the “Linear” button field, another window
appears in which you can select the following curves:
Linear = 3-point straight line
EXP 1
= Exponential curve, symmetrical ar
ound the centre
EXP 2 = Exponential curve, between the end-points
VTR = Variable 5-point curve
Line = Variable 9-point (17-point) curve
Spline = Variable 9-point (17-point) curve with rounding
LINEAR = 3-POINT STRAIGHT LINE, ASYMMETRICAL
If you select this setting the ratio of transmitter control travel to servo travel
is 100% to 100%, i.e. linear, and the characteristic curve is a straight line.
The characteristic curve can be varied separately for each side of neutral by
adjusting Rate A (left-hand half of contr
ol travel) and Rate B (right-hand half
of control travel). Pressing the “Rate A” button field activates the control but-
ton fields; you can now set the desired rate using the vertical button field.
Note that the double-arrow button ( ) means a large increment, the single-
arrow button () a small increment. You can also adjust the setting using the
3-D Hotkey (= 0.5% per click).
SEPARATE.
Press the “Separate.” button field, and answer the subsequent question
“Combine?” with “Yes”. The display changes to “ Separate.”.
Y
ou can now adjust the setting equally for both sides, i.e. symmetrically.
OFFSET
The Offset setting changes the neutral position of the transmitter control
relative to the servo centr
e point. If the offset value is up to 50%, the travel
remains the same for both sides of neutral, but if the value is any higher, the
servo travel will be at its end-point at one extreme, so the travel becomes
increasingly asymmetrical.
X-OFFSET
The X-Offset setting changes the centre position of the servo relative to the
neutral position of the transmitter control. The total travel is unchanged, alt-
hough contr
ol travel becomes increasingly asymmetrical with increasing X-
Offset values. In the extreme case one side is 99%, the other side 1%.
RESET BUTTON
Resets the particular value to the factory default setting.
