6. How to use the parent unit
6.1 Switching the parent unit
on and off
1. To switch the parent unit 17 on, press
and hold the On/Off button 32 for a few
seconds:
– You will hear a beep, the power LED
21 will light up, and the "Hello" screen
will appear.
– If the baby unit is already switched on,
the parent unit will try to connect to it.
– As soon as the connection is
established, the video transmission will
appear on the screen:
– If the connection setup is not
successful, e.g. if the parent
unit is out of range of the baby
unit or the baby unit is not switched on,
this is shown on the screen (see
"4.3 Connecting baby unit and parent
unit" on page 51).
2. To switch the parent unit 17 off, press
and hold the On/Off button 32 for a few
seconds.
You will hear a beep and the power LED
21 and the screen will go dark.
6.2 LED information
POWER indicator 21
When the parent unit is switched on, this is
indicated by LED 21:
• green light:
– parent unit is switched on
– battery is inserted and fully charged
– parent unit is operated via mains power
without battery
• flashes green:
– battery is inserted and parent unit is
connected to mains power. Indicates
that the battery is being charged in this
case
• red light:
– low battery level
Note: If LED 21 lights up red, connect the
parent unit to the mains power supply
without delay to prevent it from switching
itself off. You will also hear a beep and a
warning will appear on the screen.
Attention! Please note that the parent
unit can switch itself off faster than
anticipated, depending on how you use
the device. (For example, VOX level 5
uses more power than VOX level 1.)
Connection indicator 20
This allows you to check at a glance that
your connection is active, even if baby is
quiet and sound asleep.
The connection indicator 20 on the parent
unit 17 provides the following information on
the current status of the connection with the
baby unit 1:
• green light:
– connection is established
• flashes green:
– baby unit is in Eco-Mode and baby is
sleeping soundly
• red light:
– connection is interrupted
– baby unit is switched off
