Retractable blade guard installation
The retractable blade guard ensures that only so
much of the saw blade is released as is required for
cutting.
A
The retractable blade guard is an efficient
protection against severe personal injury and
must always be installed during operation.
1. Swing sawhead up (into rest position).
2. Loosen left-hand screw (A) approx. five turns.
3. Unscrew right-hand screw (B) fully.
4. Guide blade guard over the bare side of the saw
blade.
5. Turn the saw blade guard mounting plate clock-
wise – the left hand screw (A) must be in the
oblong hole behind the small metal lug.
6. Align the mounting plate so that the right-hand
screw (B) can be screwed in.
7. Tighten both screws (A) and (B).
8. Unscrew guide screw with bushing (C).
9. Swing guide lever down and screw the guide
screw with bushing (C), through the oblong hole
of the guide lever, back in.
10. Check functioning. To do so, swing the sawhead
lock down and lower the sawhead:
- The retractable blade guard must release the
saw blade when the sawhead is swung down,
without touching other parts.
- When lifting the saw head up to its rest posi-
tion the retractable blade guard must auto-
matically cover the saw blade.
Electrical connection
B
Danger! Electrical Hazard. Operate saw in
dry environment only.
Operate saw only on a power source match-
ing the following requirements (see also
"Technical specifications"):
- protected by a residual current operated
device of 30 mA capacity;
- outlets properly earthed.
Position power supply cable so it does not
interfere with the work and is not damaged.
Protect power supply cable from heat,
aggressive liquids and sharp edges.
Use only rubber-shielded cables
(H07RN-F 3 x 15 mm or similar).
Do not pull on power supply cable to unplug.
Operation
· Before starting work check to see that the fol-
lowing are in proper working order:
- saw blade;
- retractable blade guard;
- safety lock.
· Use personal protection gear:
- dust respirator;
- hearing protection;
- safety goggles.
· Assume proper operating position:
- at the front of the saw;
- in front of the saw;
- to the left of the line of cut.
· If the type of work requires, use the following:
- work support for long stock, which would oth-
erwise fall off the table on completion of the
cut;
- Dust collection bag or dust collector;
c
Danger! Entanglement hazard!
Do not wear loose clothing, jewellery, or
gloves, which may get caught and wound up
by the revolving saw blade.
Contain long hair with a hair net.
Never cut stock with the following attached:
- ropes,
- strings,
- webbings,
- cables or
- wires
or containing such materials.
A
Caution!
Cut only stock of dimensions that permit for
safe holding during the cutting operation.
Always hold the workpiece against the fence
and down on the table.
Do not jam workpiece.
Never cut several workpieces at the same
time – and also no bundles containing several
individual pieces. Risk of personal injury if
individual pieces are caught by the saw blade
uncontrolled.
Use appropriate jig when cutting round stock
to keep it from turning.
Do not attempt to stop the saw blade by push-
ing the workpiece against its side.
Replace a dull blade at once.
