motor oil and gasoline: Use suitable containers for filling up
and collection. Avoid uncontrolled leakage of gasoline or oil!
- Remove the oil dip-stick (11) by unscrewing.
- Fill in oil up until the mark “max” (Fig.4) and check the
correct level (the motor oil level should touch the last
pitch on the oil filler neck). Do not overfill because of an
uneven position of the device.
- Screw the oil dip-stick (11) back in.
- In case you want to drain the motor oil (oil change,
machine care etc.) remove the oil dip-stick (11) and
unscrew the oil drain plug (12). Always keep oil dip-
stick and filler hole, drain hole and drain screw
clean!
- Fill in the fuel by removing the fuel tank cap (3) and
filling in fuel (gasoline lead free with 90 octanes
minimum) up until half the height of the fuel strainer.
Avoid skin contact with fuels! Always mind clean and
unpolluted fuel! Close the tank cap thoroughly after
each filling and check-up procedure.
- Move the device to the area that needs to be scarified.
- Check if all parts are tightened firmly and possible
damages.
- Check the entire air filter (1) on possible contamination
(not necessary if the device is new). All components of
the air filter (1) always have to be free of any
contamination – detergent petroleum ether (note the
safety fact sheet of the manufacturer!).
- Put the working height adjusting lever (18) in start
position and open the fuel valve (13). Check the spark
plug socket (10) on tight fit.
- Put the choke arm (5) in position “on”.
- Pull the dead man bar (16) to the handle.
- Now pull the starter handle (7) effectually while keeping
sufficient distance from the device, and let it slowly slide
back. After maximal 5 pull-out tests the engine should
start up.
- Caution: Keep dead man bar active.
- Set your desired working depth by pulling the height
adjusting lever (18).
- Move the choke arm (5) into the position “off”.
- Set the desired working speed by pulling the regulation
lever (17).
Caution! As soon as the engine is running the cutter
spindle is active too!
Caution! Check out the lowest suitable working depth first!
Position A: (+10) start position (blades run freely)
Position B (-15) scratching and combing position
(highest working depth)
Select between following working depths:
working depth +10 mm
working depth 0 mm
Working depth -2 mm
Working depth -4 mm
Working depth -8 mm
Working depth -10 mm
Working depth -13 mm
Working depth -15 mm
(Approximate figures depending on soil conditions!)
During the working procedure always pay attention to
cooling and combustion air being drawn off constantly
(leaves can plug the suction tube). Also pay attention to
the fume outlet running smoothly.
End of work or breaks
Having completed the last scarifying process let the machine
run for another 1 to 2 minutes on idle-speed with no load.
Engine cools down a little this way.
Stopping the engine
- Let go of the dead man bar
- Close the fuel valve
Safety tips for inspection and machine care
Keep in mind that gasoline and oil may not leak – wear
protective gloves while working with the scarifying spindle!
After each usage clean the scarifier and especially the
spindle!
Maintenance, machine care, repair, storage
- Make sure that all nuts, pins and screws fit tightly
and that the device is in a safe working condition.
- Never store the scarifier with gasoline in the tank
within a building I which gasoline fumes can
possibly get in contact with open fire or sparks.
- Let the engine cool down before you store the
scarifier in closed rooms.
- To avoid fire hazard keep the engine, the exhaust
and the area around the gasoline tank free of
moss, grass, leaves or leaking grease (oil).
- Check the moss and grass collection device on
abrasion or loss of functionality regularly.
- Replace worn out or damaged parts for safety
reasons.
- In case there is any fuel to drain always do that
outside! Mind the environment!
Proceed as follows:
Unscrew the drain plug at the float chamber of the
carburettor. Drain fuel; screw the plug back in (use
suitable container!)
Let incurring repairs be carried out by trained professionals
only.
Always mind all the mentioned safety tips!
For correct operation of your scarifier regular machine
care is essential.
Especially the scarifying spindle and the drive components
have to be maintained to avoid damage or even accidents.
Before you start machine care you have to:
- Pull the spark plug socket
- Establish the machine in a safe position
- Wait on the engine having cooled down
Scarifying spindle
To have access to the spindle you have to:
- Lift the scarifier with the guide pillar and tilt over
the front wheels
- Assure the scarifier in this position against rolling
away.
- After each usage check the blades and the cutter
spindle on abrasion and damage
