4A FITTING AND ADJUSTING THE SADDLE
SADDLE HEIGHT
As already mentioned, the saddle height is very important to make your ride more comfortable and safer. With the right saddle height, your knee should
never be fully extended when the pedal reaches the lowest position and your knees should always be slightly bent.
i To fit the saddle or adjust the saddle height, you have to open the saddle clamp. You need either a spanner or an Allen key for this. Sometimes it is
also a quick-release lever that can be released by hand.
ii Once the clamp is released, the seat post is loose and you can move the saddle up and down.
iii Once the saddle is at the desired height, tighten the saddle clamp again as shown.
Note: When using a quick-release lever, you should hold the bike frame with one hand to get more leverage and the lever should leave a clear imprint in your palm.
When adjusting the saddle, always keep an eye on the minimum mark and make sure that it is not visible above the frame, otherwise you run the risk of damaging your bike or losing control of it and causing yourself
serious injury or worse.
