Loosen the 2 set screws (3) in downrod coupling. Insert downrod into downrod coupling. Make sure to align hole in downrod with the hole in downrod coupling.
Insert cross pin (1) through coupling and downrod. Insert cotter pin (2) into cross pin (1) until it snaps into place. Tighten the 2 set screws(3) in downrod coupling.
Slide coupling cover (4) over the downrod coupling.
