Proceed as follows to perform a continuity test:
- Switch the receiver unit on by pressing the switch “ON/OFF” (13).
The switch snaps into place and the LED display (1) shows “00”. The
operating indicator “OP” will light up.
- Press the button “R test” (2). The display “OP” will go out. The conti-
nuity test function is active.
- Connect the two banana clips with the lines to be tested. In case of
low-impedance continuity (approx. <100 Ohm), an acoustic signal
sounds.
- Terminate the continuity test by pressing the button “R test” and turn the receiver unit off manually
(button “ON/OFF”).
c) DC polarity test
The receiver unit can determine the polarity of low voltages of 5 to 16 V/DC.
Proceed as follows to perform the continuity test:
- Switch the receiver unit on by pressing the switch “ON/OFF” (13).
The switch snaps into place and the LED display (1) shows “00”. The
operating indicator “OP” will light up. If “OP” is not lit, please press the
button “R test” (2) to release it.
- Press the button “V check” (3). The display “00” will go out. The polar-
ity test function is now active.
- Connect the red banana clip with the positive pole and the black banana clip with the negative pole
of the voltage source. The LED indicator now shows “UU”.
- If there is no display, the polarity may be reversed or the voltage is outside of the test range (5 – 16
V/DC). Perform a counter-polarity test to limit the two possibilities down to one.
- Release all press switches and turn the receiver unit off manually (button “ON/OFF”).
d) Cable allocation
Up to 16 conductors can be indentified with the cable allocation function. All you need for this is a known
reference line/cable/pipe, e.g. a domestic water or heating pipe.
The transmitter (REMOTE UNIT) codes each test line with a number. These numbers are indicated on
the corresponding banana clips.
The receiver (DMM) decodes the signal and indicates the current line number on the LED display.
