Auto power OFF function
The DMM turns off automatically after 15 minutes if no button or switch is operated. This function saves
battery power and extends the service life.
To reactivate the DMM after automatic shutdown, use the rotary switch or press any function key
(MODE, MAX, HOLD).
2. MEASURING MODE LINE ALLOCATION
In no event exceed the max. permitted input value of 16 V/DC. Do not contact circuits
or parts of circuits if there could be voltages higher than 25 V ACrms or 35 V DC pre-
sent within them. Mortal danger!
Before measuring, check the permanently connected measuring lines for damage
such as, for example, cuts, cracks or squeezing. Defective measuring cables must
no longer be used. Risk of wrong measuring results!
Measuring is only permitted with closed housing and battery compartment.
Always turn both devices for cable allocation off after operation. The devices do not
turn off automatically like the DMM.
The cable allocator consists of two parts. The transmitter (REMOTE UNIT) is required for operation; it
applies the corresponding numerical coding to the test lines. The receiver in the DMM decodes this ID
and shows the corresponding number on the LED display (1). All you need for identification is a known
reference line. This may also be an available water pipe, heating pipe, etc.
a) Turning the cable allocators on (transmitter + receiver)
The remote unit (transmitter) and the receiver (in the DMM) is activated and deactivated via a press
switch (13 and 16). When the switch is pressed, both devices are turned on. To turn off press the switch
again.
Operation is signalled with the display “OP”. The display “OP” (1) is lit on the DMM receiver unit; the dis-
play “OP” (17) blinks on the transmitter unit.
Prior to working with the cable allocation device, you have to insert the enclosed bat-
teries. Inserting and changing the battery is described in the chapter “Maintenance
and cleaning”.
b) Continuity test
Continuity tests can be performed with the receiver unit on the DMM. Resistances of approx. <100 Ohm
are signalled acoustically.
