Activation duration controlling
Activation duration controlling serves to keep the solar
circuit at the activation value, and thus in operation, for
as long as possible. For this purpose the pump is swit-
ched on and off in periodical thrusts depending on the
collector temperature and lower storage tank tempera-
ture. On reaching the switch-on difference, the function
is started (if activated) with an activation duration of 30
% - i.e. the pump is switched on for 18 s and then swit-
ched off for 42 s. In the temperature difference incre-
ases, the activation duration is increased (e.g. 45 s on,
15 s off). In the temperature difference decreases, the
activation duration is decreased (e.g. 20 s on, 40 s off).
The period length is always a minute.
Note: Does not apply in combination with a VPM S or
VMS solar pump unit.
Actual flow temperature
The flow temperature actually present in a heating cir-
cuit.
Anti-legionella function
The anti-Legionella function can only be activated glo-
bally for all cylinder charging circuits. When active, the
function is carried out at the predetermined time: 1x
weekly or daily at the selected time, the respective
cylinder and the corresponding hot water pipes are rai-
sed to a temperature of 70 °C. To achieve this, the tar-
get value for the cylinder in question is increased to
68/70 °C (2 K hysteresis) and the corresponding circu-
lation pump is switched on. The function is terminated
when the cylinder sensor measures a temperature
68 °C for longer than 30 mins, or after a period of 90
mins has elapsed (to avoid getting “stuck“ in this func-
tion if water is drawn simultaneously).
Anti-legionnaire’s disease protection is naturally not
carried out for the swimming pool (storage tank 3).
Peculiarities: If the 230 V contact is configured as an
"Anti-legionella contact", a solar pump is started up via
this contact, which mixes the contents of the solar cylin-
der thoroughly, so that the lower region of the cylinder
can attain the necessary temperature.
If a temperature of > 68 °C has already been reached at
the lower solar sensor through a solar filling, the heater
doesn’t have to be switched on. Then only the anti-
legionnaire’s disease contact and circulation pump are
switched on.
AT continuous heating
Outside temperature below which heating using the tar-
get room temperature/heating curve assigned to the
heating circuit is continuous outside the programmed
time window.
A night time reduction or total switch-off no longer
takes place if the temperature reaches or falls below
the set value.
Bleeding function solar circuit
The solar circuit pump is activated for an adjustable
period of up to 600 minutes from the A7 menu to carry
out bleeding independent of the controller.
Note: This function is not supported in combination with
the VPM S and the VMS, as both solar pump units carry
out bleeding permanently.
Control behaviour of the mixing circuit:
If the current temperature of the mixing circuit deviates
by more than +/- 0.5 K from the target inlet tempera-
ture required by the controller, the mixer valve is actua-
ted via the mixer motor with impulses of variable activa-
tion duration (AD). The duty cycle (voltage signal for
"open" or "closed") depends on the control deviation,
i.e. on the difference between the actual and target flow
temperatures and the conversion factor.
In the default setting, we have pre-set a proportional
band of 12 K, i. e. controlling is performed at a switch-on
ratio of 100 % in the “open” or “closed” direction in the
event of a control deviation of 12 K or more. If control
deviation is, for example, 6 K, the mixer is controlled at
a switch-on ratio of 50 %. Since the period time has a
fixed cycle time of 20 seconds, this means that the
mixer is operated 10 seconds in “open” or “closed”
direction and is at a standstill for 10 seconds.
Cylinder charging circuit/cylinder recharging delay
With the controller, the cylinder charging circuit is used
for the timed enabling of the reheating function. The
reheating takes place within the programmed timer pro-
gramme, provided the target cylinder temperature has
not been reached yet. The cylinder recharging is activa-
ted when the target cylinder temperature is exceeded
by more than 5 K.
In order to avoid unnecessary recharging, a recharging
delay function has been integrated. In this case, if the
solar pump is running, the actual required reheating is
delayed by the preset value. If the solar pump switches
off during the delay period, reheating takes place imme-
diately.
The controller has a factory-set timer program, which
you can customise:
Mon - Fri 5:30 - 22:00
Sat 7:00 - 23:30
Sun 7:00 - 22:00
The preset times do not apply to the VPM W.
Cylinder frost protection
The temperature in the cylinder is always maintained at
a minimum level of 12 °C. The cylinder frost protection
is ineffective if a contact at the cylinder sensor input is
activated (R 0 Ohm – R infinite).
