Operating manual for the auroMATIC 620 Controller 0020094404_0052
Heating appliance:
Generic term for all types of boiler that produce heat
for heating installations and for heating drinking water.
Depending on design, size and application, heaters are
generally subdivided, for example, into boilers, wall-
mounted heaters or combination units. Specific designa-
tions differentiate, e.g., gas condensing boilers, floor-
standing oil-fired boilers, gas wall-mounted combi boi-
lers or compact gas-fired boilers with condensing tech-
nology. A common characteristic of these heaters is
that during combustion, flue gases (gas) or exhaust
gases (oil) are produced which are led away by means
of a chimney or a flue pipe. Depending on the type of
fuel, heating output and means of supplying the com-
bustion air and removing the flue gases, a dedicated
boiler room may be required or installation in living
rooms may even be possible. In addition to boilers run-
ning on gas and oil, heaters also include solar thermal
installations, heat pumps, combined heat and power
installations and fuel cell boilers, which are still under
development.
Heating circuit
A heating circuit is a closed circulation system of pipes
and heat consumers (e.g. radiators). The heated water
from the boiler flows into the heating circuit and returns
to the boiler as cooled water.
A heating installation usually has at least one heating
circuit. However additional heating circuits can be con-
nected, e.g. to supply several apartments or additional
underfloor heating.
Heating curve
The flow temperature in heating installations, calculated
as a function of the outside temperature, is known as
the heating curve. The flow temperature in the heating
circuit gets warmer the lower the outside temperature
becomes.
Heating flow temperature
Your boiler heats water which is then pumped through
your heating system. The temperature of this hot water
as it leaves the boiler is referred to as the flow tempera-
ture.
Heating installation
The heating installation heats up the apartment and
produces hot water.
Heating pump
A heating pump in a heating installation is a centrifugal
pump which conveys the heated heating water to the
radiators and house service connection stations and at
the same time feeds back the cooled water from the
return pipes so that the boiler can heat it up again.
Heating times, time windows
The heating times are the time periods each day/block
during which you are at home and require heat and hot
water. They describe a time window, e.g., Mon–Fri: 5:30
– 8:30 is the time window during which you get up,
shower and have breakfast in the morning.
HK1
HK1 is the standard name (factory setting) for heating
circuit 1 of your heating installation. You can change
this name.
Hot water generation
Your boiler heats the water in the domestic hot water
cylinder to the selected target temperature. If the tem-
perature in the DHW cylinder falls by specific amount,
the water is heated up again to the target temperature.
You can programme time windows for heating up the
contents of the cylinder.
Installer level
The Installer level displays the specific parameters that
the heating engineer can set/change. This level is reser-
ved for the expert technician and is therefore protected
by an access code.
Knob
The knobs are buttons with which, by turning and pres-
sing, you can select menus or parameters, and alter and
save values.
Legionella
Legionella are water-borne bacteria which can quickly
propagate and cause serious lung diseases. They occur
wherever heated water provides the optimum condi-
tions for multiplication. Temporarily heating the water
to above 60 °C kills off the legionella.
Menu
A menu displays a selection of parameters which you
can alter.
Mixing circuit
A mixing circuit is a heating, hot water, solar circuit etc.
which contains a mixer. To control a mixing circuit,
mixer modules are used in combination with Vaillant
controllers. Each mixing circuit can, as required, be swit-
ched between: heating circuit, fixed value control,
return flow boost or hot water circuit.
Night set back temperature
The night set back temperature is the temperature to
which your heating system reduces the room tempera-
ture outside of the programmed time window.
