51Operating manual for the auroMATIC 620 0020094404_00 Controller
Glossary
allSTOR VPS/2 (buffer cylinder)
A buffer cylinder system can be charged from various
sources in response to demand and distribute the sto-
red heat to the connected consumers.
Circulation pump
Depending on the length of the pipe, there may be a
brief delay before hot water flows when the hot water
cock is opened. A circulation pump circulates hot water
via your hot water pipe. This ensures that hot water is
immediately available when you turn on the tap. Time
windows can be programmed for the circulation pump.
Collector array
In solar thermal installations, the collector array con-
sists of individual collectors which are mounted on the
roof or on the facade. There are several possibilities for
interconnecting the collectors. They should be chosen
so that the heat transfer fluid flows evenly through the
whole array and the pressure loss is equally high all
over. Only then will the collectors work optimally.
Combi storage tank
Solar heating installations which provide both hot water
and additional free heat for heating work with two cylin-
ders: a buffer cylinder and a DHW cylinder. Combi sto-
rage tanks combine the two and are constructed on the
two-tank principle. They are used mainly as buffers to
store the solar energy supplied by the collector. There
is a DHW cylinder integrated into the upper part of the
buffer cylinder; this is surrounded by heating water and
constantly holds hot water ready for drawing. Instead of
the integrated DHW cylinder, it is also possible to install
a heating coil, which heats the drinking water in a simi-
lar way to a continuous flow heater.
Controller
The auroMATIC controller takes over the control func-
tions for the solar heat system and the entire heating
installation. Thus a weather-compensated controller,
solar hot water generation and solar-assisted heating
support are coordinated in a common controller. The
complex interconnection of separate heating and solar
controllers is avoided.
Cursor
The cursor
marks the parameter to be changed.
Cylinder charging
Cylinder charging means that the water contained in the
cylinder is being heated to the desired hot water tempe-
rature.
DCF receiver
A DCF receiver receives a time signal. The time signal
sets the time automatically and provides automatic
switching between summer time and winter time.
DCF signal
Signal from one of the long-wave transmitters designa-
ted DCF by Deutsche Telekom AG.
Differential temperature control
Differential control is a type of control found on Vaillant
controllers, e.g. on solar controllers. If the difference
between the collector temperature and the cylinder
temperature is greater than the specified activation dif-
ference, the solar controller switches the solar pump on;
if it is less than the specified switch-off difference, the
solar controller switches the pump off.
eBUS
The eBUS communications protocol simplifies the cont-
rol-related coupling of various system components
within a heating system. It provides particular flexibility
for retrofitting and expanding the system. The installa-
tion of additional boilers or the retrospective incorpora-
tion of components such as solar hot water generation
is thus simplified. The eBUS provides extended possibili-
ties for connecting external controllers and also for con-
necting to the vrnetDIALOG Internet communications
system for remote servicing and diagnostics.
Error message
An error message indicates in plain text that the con-
troller has detected a fault in the heating installation.
Forward flow temperature
See Heating flow temperature.
Frost protection delay/ Heating frost protection
The heating frost protection function ensures protec-
tion from frost in the Off and Eco modes (outside the
time windows) in the heating installationand applies to
all connected heating circuits. To prevent the system
from freezing, the required room temperature is set to
the set set-back value and the heating circuit pump is
switched on if the outside temperature falls below 3 °C.
The frost protection function can be suppressed for a
certain period of time by setting a delay time (setting
range of 0 - 23 h).
Furthermore frost protection is activated regardless of
the measured outside temperature if it is established
that the measured room temperature is lower than the
set night set back temperature with a connected remote
control device.
