All components
Keep the following points in mind when planning:
Power cables between the motor and battery may only be extended with
Torqeedo extension cables. Use a maximum of one extension per motor.
TorqLink stub lines must not be extended.
The Torqeedo system operates with high electrical power, so plan the
installation location of the components so that sensitive electrical devices
such as radios or sensitive measuring devices such as compasses will not
be affected. If necessary, reposition the affected devices.
Plan the installation of components with cable connections so that the con-
nections point downwards to avoid standing water in the plug.
Motor
It is important to install and x the motor correctly to ensure safe operation of
the boat. Incorrect installation or the use of unsuitable sealants and consumables
can lead to leaks and corrosion. Specialist knowledge is required for work and
modications to the boat hull; if necessary, have the planning and installation
carried out by a specialist.
Keep the following points in mind when planning:
When planning, take into account the construction material of the boat
hull and plan the appropriate sealants and attachment materials to prevent
corrosion and ensure a permanent seal of all sealing surfaces.
Drill holes and openings in the hull can affect the structure and stability
of the boat hull. Take appropriate measures to ensure the structure and
stability of the boat hull.
The motor must be connected to the boat hull in such a way that it can
withstand all the forces that occur during operation.
When planning, make sure that there is sufcient distance between the
propeller and the boat hull and rudder blade.
Plan for sufcient distance to the rudder blade if you want to use a folding
propeller, as this requires more space due to the folding mechanism. The
distance between the shaft tube of the motor and the leading edge of the
rudder blade must be min. 450mm.
NOTE! If necessary, consult or have a specialist carry out your planning and
installation to ensure your Cruise system is correctly installed.
NOTE! If the maximum speed of the boat exceeds 14 knots through the water
(STW), the optional folding propeller must be used to avoid damage to the motor
caused by excessive propeller rotational speeds.
GPS antenna (Cruise 3.0 FP only)
The GPS antenna receives the GPS signal and makes it available to the Cruise
system for calculating important parameters.
It is important that the GPS antenna is installed correctly, and in particular that
it is installed in the correct position, in order for the entire Cruise system to
function properly.
INFO! Cruise 6.0 TorqLink models use the accelerator lever GPS antenna and do
not have an external GPS antenna.
Keep the following points in mind when planning:
The ideal installation location for the GPS antenna is on deck with a clear
view upwards to receive the GPS signals from the GPS satellites.
If you want to use the GPS antenna below deck, you should attach it
provisionally at the intended installation location and carry out a system
test. If the material of your boat hull does not interfere with the reception of
the GPS signal, it can be installed below deck. Correct function can be rec-
ognised by the fact that the Cruise system does not display any errors and
the GPS speed and dynamic range calculation function correctly. Note that
an overcast sky can have an additional negative effect on the GPS signal
and take this into account in your test.
If your boat hull is made of metal, the GPS antenna must be installed on
deck.
Note the maximum cable length available of 2450 mm.
Note that the GPS antenna cable must not be extended.
Batteries
It is important to mount and x the batteries correctly to ensure safe operation
of the boat, regardless of whether you operate your Torqeedo system with Power
24, Power 48 or external batteries. During planning and installation, ensure that
the batteries are securely fastened at every stage. When using external batteries,
additional measures may be necessary, e.g. fuses, ventilation, heating etc. Clarify
the measures necessary for the marine sector with your battery supplier.
