THE BUTTONS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS
TOAST/CANCEL button (A)
Once the appliance is plugged in, the button surround of TOAST/CANCEL lights up
white for 30 seconds. After that, the appliance switches to standby mode if no other
button has been pressed resp. the roasting degree controller has not been moved.
Press the TOAST/CANCEL button (A) once to start the mechanism for lowering
and centering and subsequently the toasting process. The button surround of
TOAST/CANCEL lights up red during the toasting process.
If you press the TOAST/CANCEL button during the toasting process, the toast-
ing function resp. every other function is stopped and the lifting mechanism lifts
the bread. In this case, the colour of the button surround by TOAST/CANCEL
switches from red to white and remains illuminated white for 30 seconds until
the appliance switches to standby mode.
LIFT AND LOOK™ button (B)
With this function, you can automatically lift the toast / pastry for a short time to
check the roasting degree without interrupting or stopping the toasting process.
1. The button surround of LIFT AND LOOK™ lights up white during the toasting
process resp. the extension phase (if you have pressed the A BIT MORE™ button).
As long as the button surround lights up white, you can lift the bread / pastry for a
few seconds and check the degree of roasting by pressing the LIFT AND LOOK™
button. The button surround flashes during this phase. The segment to the far
right of the LED bar does not flash in this phase and indicates that the set toasting
time is only counted down again after the bread is lowered. After a few seconds,
the bread / pastry is automatically lowered by the LIFT AND LOOK™ function,
the toasting process is resumed and the segment to the far right of the LED
bar flashes again. Should the bread / pastry be brown enough, you can stop the
toasting process by pressing the TOAST/CANCEL button.
2. Approximately 10 seconds before the toasting process is completed, the white
button surround of LIFT AND LOOK™ goes out. The function can not be
activated anymore.
Note:
The toasting process can be interrupted at any time by a mere press of the
TOAST/CANCEL button. This stops the toasting process and activates the lifting
mechanism, the bread is lifted.
5. Once the toasting process has been completed and while the lifting mechanism
automatically lifts the bread, the button surround of the TOAST/CANCEL button
flashes red. The LED bar (G) on the other hand does not flash anymore, instead
it constantly illuminates up to the selected degree of roasting.
6. Once the toasting process has been completed and the bread has been fully lifted,
the Done-signal sounds. Now, remove the bread from the toaster. The button
surround by TOAST/CANCEL lights up white for 30 seconds, indicating that the
toaster is ready for the next toasting process.
Standby mode:
The toaster returns to standby mode after 30 seconds if no button is pressed
and the roasting degree controller (H) is not moved within this timeframe. In
standby mode, all button surrounds as well as the LED bar for toasting status
go out.
You can exit standby mode, making the button surrounds of TOAST/CANCEL
and the LED bar light up again, by:
pressing one of the buttons other than the TOAST/CANCEL or
A BIT MORE. These buttons would start the toasting process right away,
moving the roasting degree controller.
Warning:
Never leave the toaster unsupervised while it is in use, as there is always the risk of
the bread getting stuck in it and starting to burn. In the unlikely event of a toast,
bread or bagel being stuck in the slot, all button surrounds as well as the LED bar
start flashing and the appliance switches off. In this case, pull the power plug from
the power socket and let the appliance cool down completely before removing the
bread from the slot with a wooden tool (e.g. a cooking spoon). Be especially careful
not to damage the heating elements when doing that.
