BEFORE FIRST USE
Remove and discard all packaging materials and potential advertisement stickers.
Wipe the appliance chassis clean with a soft, slightly moist towel and dry it.
Place the appliance on a dry, even and heat resistant work surface.
Note:
Before the toaster is used for the first time, it is recommended that the roasting de-
gree controller (H) is set to the highest position and the toasting process is completed
once without toast/bread by pressing the TOAST/CANCEL button (A). The toaster
produces thin smoke and potentially a slight smell when used for the first time. This
is absolutely normal and does not impair the functionality of your toaster in any way.
Make sure that the room is sufficiently ventilated.
STARTING UP
1. Plug the power plug into a suitable power outlet, the button surrounds of the
TOAST/CANCEL (A) buttons light up white. The LED bars for the toast status light
up red from left to right. Then, the bars only light up to the position which has
been set with the roasting degree controller (H). The toaster switches to standby
mode automatically after 30 seconds if no button is pressed and the roasting
degree controller (H) is not moved within this timeframe.
2. Place the bread, the slice of toast or the crumpet resp. bagel you wish to toast in
the slot. Make sure that the slices are not too thick, long or wide and precisely
fit into the slots.
Your appliance is equipped with two independently functioning control
panels, allowing you to make separate settings for each pair of slots and
simultaneously perform different toasting processes.
3. Select the desired degree of roasting with the roasting degree controller (H). In
position 1, the roasting is lightest, in position 5, it is darkest. The LED bar (G) lights
up red up to the selected position.
Note:
When using the toaster for the first time, you should start with roasting degree 3.
Different kinds of bread and personal preference might require different roasting
degree settings. For instance, the setting should be lower for light, fluffy bread
than for bread with a firm texture. Likewise, older bread requires a lower degree of
roasting, as the bread is drier than fresh bread.
4. To start the toasting process, press the TOAST/CANCEL button (A) on the con-
trol panel. The button surround of the TOAST/CANCEL button lights up red and
the lift / lower mechanism automatically lowers the bread into the slots, centers
it and starts the toasting process. Once the bread has been lowered, the button
surround by LIFT AND LOOK™ (B) lights up white and the segment in the far
right of the LED bar (G) indicating the toasting status above the roasting degree
controller (H) starts flashing. With the progress of the toasting process, the bar
shrinks segment by segment, moving to the left. The LIFT AND LOOK™ button
(B) illuminates until approx. 10 seconds before the end of the toasting process,
then it goes out, as the function can no longer be activated after this moment.
