tofollowallinstructionslistedbelowmayresultin
electricshock,reand/orseriousinjury.
b) Thispowertoolisnotrecommendedforpolishing.
Operationsforwhichthepowertoolwasnotdesigned
may create a hazard and cause personal injury.
c) Donotuseaccessorieswhicharenotspecifically
designedandrecommendedbythetoolmanufacturer.
Just because the accessory can be attached to your
powertool,itdoesnotassuresafeoperation.
d) Theratedspeedoftheaccessorymustbeatleast
equaltothemaximumspeedmarkedonthepower
tool.Accessoriesrunningfasterthantheirratedspeed
can fly apart.
e) Theoutsidediameterandthethicknessofyour
accessorymustbewithinthecapacityratingofyour
powertool.Incorrectly sized accessories cannot be
adequatelyguardedorcontrolled.
f) Thearboursizeofwheels,flanges,backingpadsor
anyotheraccessorymustproperlyfitthespindleof
thepowertool.Accessories with arbour holes that do
notmatchthemountinghardwareofthepowertoolwill
runoutofbalance,vibrateexcessivelyandmaycause
lossofcontrol.
g) Donotuseadamagedaccessory.Beforeeachuse
inspecttheaccessorysuchasabrasivewheelsfor
chipsandcracks,backingpadsforcracks,tearor
excesswear,wirebrushesforlooseorcracked
wires.Ifthepowertooloraccessoryisdropped,
inspectfordamageorinstallanundamaged
accessory.Afterinspectingandinstallingan
accessory,positionyourselfandbystandersaway
fromtheplaneoftherotatingaccessoryandrunthe
powertoolatmaximumnoloadspeedforone
minute.Damaged accessories will normally break apart
during this test time.
h) Wearpersonalprotectiveequipment 4. Depending
onapplication,usefaceshield,safetygogglesor
safetyglasses.Asappropriate,weardustmask,
hearingprotectors,glovesandshopaproncapable
ofstoppingsmallabrasiveorworkpiecefragments.
Theeyeprotectionmustbecapableofstoppingying
debrisgeneratedbyvariousoperations.Thedustmask
orrespiratormustbecapableofltratingparticles
generated by your operation. Prolonged exposure to
high intensity noise may cause hearing loss.
i) Keepbystandersasafedistanceawayfromwork
area.Anyoneenteringtheworkareamustwear
personalprotectiveequipment.Fragmentsofthe
workpieceorofabrokenaccessorymayyawayand
causeinjurybeyondtheimmediateareaofoperation.
j) Holdthepowertoolonlybytheinsulatedgripping
surfaceswhenperforminganoperationwherethe
cuttingtoolmaycontacthiddenwiringoritsown
powercord.Contactwitha“live”wirewillalsomake
exposedmetalpartsofthepowertool“live”andshock
the operator.
k) Positionthecordclearofthespinningaccessory.If
youlosecontrol,thecordmaybecutorsnaggedandyour
hand or arm may be pulled into the spinning accessory.
l) Neverlaythepowertooldownuntiltheaccessory
hascometoacompletestop.The spinning accessory
maygrabthesurfaceandpullthepowertooloutof
your control.
m) Donotrunthepowertoolwhilecarryingitatyour
side.Accidental contact with the spinning accessory
couldsnagyourclothing,pullingtheaccessoryinto
your body.
n) Regularlycleanthepowertool’sairvents.The
motor’sfanwilldrawthedustinsidethehousingand
excessiveaccumulationofpowderedmetalmaycause
electrical hazards.
o) Donotoperatethepowertoolnearflammable
materials.Sparks could ignite these materials.
p) Donotuseaccessoriesthatrequireliquidcoolants.
Usingwaterorotherliquidcoolantsmayresultin
electrocution or shock.
2)KICKBACKANDRELATEDWARNINGS
• Kickbackisasuddenreactiontoapinchedorsnagged
rotatingwheel,backingpad,brushoranyotheraccessory.
Pinchingorsnaggingcausesrapidstallingoftherotating
accessory which in turn causes the uncontrolled power
tooltobeforcedinthedirectionoppositeofthe
accessory’srotationatthepointofthebinding.
• Forexample,ifanabrasivewheelissnaggedorpinched
bytheworkpiece,theedgeofthewheelthatisentering
intothepinchpointcandigintothesurfaceofthe
material causing the wheel to climb out or kick out. The
wheelmayeitherjumptowardorawayfromthe
operator,dependingonthedirectionofthewheel’s
movementatthepointofpinching.Abrasivewheels
may also break under these conditions.
• Kickbackistheresultofpowertoolmisuseand/or
incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be
avoidedbytakingproperprecautionsasgivenbelow.
