5 Storage and care
5.1 After use
1. Pull the mains plug from the socket. The operating light goes off.
2. Use up the remaining steam supply until the flow from the nozzle has
stopped.
3. Coil the power cord and lay if safely beside the appliance.
4. Now wait at least ten minutes until all parts of the appliance have
completely cooled off.
5. Remove all attached accessories so that any accumulated
condensation can dry off more easily.
6. After the appliance has cooled off, you may put it away, Zchapter 5.2,
„Storage“.
If you have used a cleaning-cloth:
7. Remove the cooled-off cleaning cloth.
8. Clean it, Zchapter 5.3, „Cleaning-cloth care“.
5.2 Storage
If you want to store the appliance for a longer period of time, empty the
water tank and let it dry completely.
Only stow away the appliance if it is completely dry.
Store the appliance in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children.
5.3 Cleaning-cloth care
Care for the cleaning-cloths as follows:
Wash them in the regular 60-degree cycle.
Do not use bleach.
Drying them on the line is best.
Do not iron.
Do not dry-clean.
5.4 Cleaning the nozzles
Prophylactically or if you find that the steam production is reduced and
detect limescale around the nozzles:
1. Make sure that appliance is not connected to the mains and has been
left to cool off for at least ten minutes.
2. Insert the supplied cleaning-needle into the opening (Fig. 14).
Alternatively, you may also use a paper clip you have bent open.
3. Attach an accessory you are sure is free of limescale, nor otherwise
clogged, to the adapter.
4. Check the steam production again. If the steam production is still
strongly reduced or only slightly better than before, decalcify the
complete steam channel, Zchapter 5.5, „Decalcifying the appliance“.
5.5 Decalcifying the appliance
Decalcify the appliance approx. every 6 months to extend its service life.
1. Fill the water tank with water and add biological decalcifier (available in
stores). Follow the decalcifier manufacturer's instructions on use and
dosage.
2. Fit any accessory to the appliance and direct the steam jet into a heat-
proof container to collect the steam.
3. Connect the appliance to the mains.
4. Wait until the appliance is steam ready and then let the decalcifying
solution run through for about five minutes.
5. Then wait another 5 minutes with the appliance still plugged in.
6. Repeat this procedure 3 times and dispose of the remaining solution.
WARNING:
Risk of scalding! The appliance continues to run. Even after you have
pulled the mains plug from the socket, hot steam will continue to be
available. Use up the remaining steam supply after having unplugged
the appliance and then let it cool off for another ten minutes.
WARNING:
Danger of stumbling and falling! Coil the power cord and lay if safely
beside the appliance until this has completely cooled off.
ATTENTION:
If you have used a cotton cloth, take this off of the carrier after the
appliance has cooled down. Otherwise, germs and mould might
develop.
ATTENTION:
Never position the appliance directly against heat sources (e.g. heating,
oven). Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight. Heat can damage the
appliance.
WARNING:
Danger of scalding! The appliance continues to run. Even after you have
pulled the mains plug from the socket, hot steam will continue to be
available.
ATTENTION:
Wash the cleaning cloths after each cleaning session.
14
NOTE:
In areas with hard water, we recommend using distilled water in the
appliance or at least to decalcify it more often.
NOTE:
If you use only distilled water, the appliance does not have to be
decalcified.
NOTE:
To decalcify the appliance you may as an exception add biologic
decalcifying agent to the water in the tank. This is absolutely the only
exception from the rule.
