4 Operation
4 Operation
4.1 Steam cleaning
1. Before starting up the appliance, check if the water tank is full. Fill up
the tank if there is no or only little water to be seen in the viewing-
window, Zchapter 3.2, „Filling the water tank“.
2. Insert the mains plug into a socket with ground/safety contact. The
operating light (Fig. 10/A) goes on. The appliance is now heating up.
3. Wait for about 30 seconds. The appliance is now ready for operation.
If you push the steam button prematurely, either nothing or more water
than steam will be produced.
4. Now, you may push the steam button (Fig. 10/B).
- The built-in pump is activated. The sound it makes is normal.
- Steam will be produced as long as the steam button is depressed.
Steam will continue to escape for a short time after you release the
steam button.
- You can regulate steam power and cleaning effect by adjusting the
distance to the surface to be cleaned.
If you have fitted a cleaning-cloth (Fig. 11):
5. Wait until you see steam beginning to emerge through he cleaning-
cloth. Only then the fibres will be sufficiently saturated to activate their
cleaning power.
4.2 Cleaning showers (optional)
1. Warm the glass surface to be cleaned by applying steam from a
distance of 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 inches) (Fig. 12/A).
2. Reduce the distance to 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches) to evenly cover the
glass surface with steam.
3. Stop the steam flow by releasing the steam button.
4. Strip the water off of the glass surface with the rubber blade of the
squeegee (Fig. 12/B).
5. Wipe the rubber blade and the bottom edge of the glass surface dry
after each pass of the squeegee.
4.3 Refreshing upholstery and clothing
WARNING:
Danger of scalding when using the appliance!
Never direct the steam jet at persons, animals or plants.
Always point the steam jet downwards towards the surface to be
cleaned. Even then, take care that parts of your body never get into the
steam jet.
Never lay the appliance on its side during operation.

WARNING:
Danger of scalding when interrupting work!
Never lay the appliance on its side during operation.
When interrupting work, e.g. for changing attachments, pull the plug
from the power socket and use up the remaining steam supply.
Wait at least another ten minutes before removing the fitted
attachments.
ATTENTION:
Do not operate the appliance on one spot for a prolonged time. Keep
moving the appliance back and forth to loosen dirt on a larger area.
Otherwise there will be increased danger of damaging the surface to be
cleaned.

ATTENTION:
Cold Glass surfaces can shatter as a result of heat shock. Always warm
glass surfaces before directly using steam on them.

WARNING:
Danger of scalding! Never apply the steam jet directly to pieces of
clothing while they are still being worn by persons or animals!
ATTENTION:
Before refreshing upholstery or clothes, make sure that their material
and colour is suitable for steam cleaning. Always follow the cleaning
recommendations of the material manufacturers.
NOTE:
We recommend to always use the cotton cover when refreshing
upholstery or clothing as this reduces the formation of condensation
drops that can adversely affect the cleaning result.
