ROTWILD USER MANUAL | 2014
Ride carefully on loose surfaces, wet leaves
and wet roads; your wheels may slip and
skid.
Change down in good time before tackling
hills.
Never ride without an approved safety helmet.
Do not race or ride downhill courses where
your wheels may lose direct contact with the
ground. Your bike is not designed for jumps.
Shift your body mass as far back as possible
when braking on downhill roads; in this way,
you ensure safe braking and avoid somer-
saulting.
If possible, always ride in a group; there‘s
always someone there to help when needed.
Quick-releases
Loose quick-releases and/or screw and bolt
connections can result in parts coming free
from your bike. This could lead to a fall or
accident in which you and/or other persons may
be injured. So please make sure that all quick-
releases are tight before each ride.
Headset
A stiff headset may lead to a fall or accident in
which you and/or other persons may be injured.
Before every ride: Make sure that your gearshift
and brake cables are not under tension and
check the smooth operation of your headset.
Helmets
In several European countries the wearing
of safety helmets is mandatory. We strongly
recommend the wearing of safety helmets. They
represent the best possible protection for the
cyclist‘s head. Please note that this also applies
to apparently safe rides. The majority of head
injuries sustained can be avoided or prevented.
Make sure that the helmet you buy is approved
by ANSI, SNELL, ASTM, and has a CE-Tested
label.
Headphones
Do not wear headphones while riding. You could
overhear warning signals, e.g. car horns or the
sound of other road users, and cause accidents
as a result.
Screw tightening torque
Always use an allen torque wrench to tighten
the hex screws with the appropriate torque. If
you don‘t, the screw or bolt connections could
work free and you could lose control of your
bike. This could lead to a fall or accident in
which you and/or other persons may be injured.
Brakes
Wrongly adjusted or worn brakes can prevent
you braking in time enough to avoid a fall or an
accident in which you and/or other persons may
be injured. So always check whether your brakes
are functioning correctly before every ride.
Tyres
Inadequate tyre profile or the wrong tyre pres-
sure may lead to a fall or accident in which you
and/or other persons may be injured. So always
check your tyre profile and air pressure before
every ride.
For reason of safety, ROTWILD recom-
mends that only ROTWILD accessories and
replacement parts specifically approved for your
bike are installed. In other cases, ROTWILD may
not be held liable for any claims, even when the
parts used are approved by an official technical
testing organisation or certification by a public
office.
Potential accident risk
A defective technical condition of your bike may
lead to damage that is a potential cause of falls
or accidents and may lead to injury of yourself
and others.
Falls/accidents
Following an accident or fall, please make sure
that no parts of your bike are bent, damaged or
broken.
