transmitters. In the case of very powerful
medium wave transmitters the indicator may
light up on several consecutive tuning frequen-
cies.
(u) 'STEREO' indicator
This lights up if the tuned transmitter is received
in stereo.
@ 'MEMORY' button
Button for starting the programming procedure.
If this button is pressed, then it is possible to
programme the pre-selected transmitter for
5 seconde. During the programming procedure
the tuner is in memory mode, indicated by the
lighting up of the word 'MEMORY' on display (f).
@ 'LW' selector button
For selecting the long wave tuning range.
When this button is pressed, the 'LW' indicator
lights up on display ®.
@ 'MW' selector button
For selecting the medium wave tuning range.
When this button is pressed, the 'MW' indicator
lights up on display @.
@ 'FM' selector button
For selecting the 'FM' tuning range.
When this button is pressed, the 'FM' indicator
lights up on display @.
OPERATION
The tuner may be operated directly or via remote
control.
In both cases the amplifier must first be switched
on.
Operating via remote control
This is only possible with preprogrammed stations.
Programming can not be done with the aid of the
remote control, but only directly from the tuner.
You should therefore first programme the tuner and
then read the instructions for operating the tuner in
the booklet supplied with the remote control.
With the amplifier switched on and set to tuner
playback (the 'TUNER' indicator is lit up!) the
transmitters can be tuned as follows:
1. Switch the tuner on by pressing 'ON/OFF'
switch 0. The tuner then returns automatically
to the last position it was in before it was
switched off.
2. Select LW, MW or FM by pressing 'LW' button
@, 'MW' @ or 'FM' @.
In the 'LW' position indicators 'LW' and 'kHz'
light up on display (s).
In the 'MW' position indicators 'MW' and 'kHz'
light up on display (s).
In the 'FM' position indicators 'FM' and 'MHz'
light up on display ®.
3. Three different ways can then be used con-
secutively to tune to the required transmitter,
i.e. automatic tuning, manual tuning and tuning
on pre-selected transmitters.
A. Automatic tuning
By pressing button ® 'DOWN' or @ 'UP' once
andforlongerthan 0.5 second, the selected tuning
range is searched step by step until the tuner
locates a transmitter of adequate strength, at which
it stops. Indicator @ 'TUNED' lights up. If it is a
stereo transmission, indicator @ 'STEREO' lights
up.
If the station selected is not the one you want,
press button ® or @ again. Automatic tuning is
then resumed, until another station is located.
Wofe; If the end of a tuning range is reached, tuning
stops and begins again from the other end of the
tuning range.
Depress, if desired, key @ 'FM-NR' to reduce
possible noise.
During tuning the audio signals are completely
suppressed, in order to prevent any interference
from parasitic noise.
Note:
Relatively weak transmitters are passed over
during automatic tuning and can only be selected
with manual tuning.
Tuner does not search
- The frequency has only changed by one step and
you have not pressed button @ or (D for long
enough.
The tuner locates few stations
- The aerial signals received are too weak.
- Check the aerial connections.
- Adjust the position of the AM frame or the FM
indoor aerial.
If this does not give satisfactory results, the
transmitters received are too weak,
In this case consider connection to external
aerials or cable network.
- If these are already fitted, check their connection
to the tuner.
B. IVIanual tuning
To help prevent poorly tuned transmitters being
stored in the memory, it is useful to know the exact
tuning frequency of the transmitters received in the
area.
For this Information consult a programme
magazine.
