The tape direction will also be shown in the

® TAPE COUNTER'
Indicates how far the tape has travelled.

For fast winding to the right.
@ 'STOP' button
For stopping all tape travel functions.
@ 'PAUSE' button with indicator
After this button has been pressed, the tape will
not travel and, therefore, there will be no
recording or playbacl<. The indicator will now
flash.
Press the pause button again to continue
the recording or playback.
@ 'PEAK LEVEL' indicator
Indicates the recording level of both channels.
@ 'REC' recording button with indicator
Press this button to make a recording; the
indicators near the REC and PLAY buttons will
then light up.
@ 'REC MUTE' button
For adding a blank part between recordings.
See 'SILENT RECORDING'.
@ 'REC LEVEL'
For setting the recording level. See 'RECORD-
ING'.
@ 'PHONES' connection socket
For connecting stereo headphones
@ 'L - MIC - R' connection sockets for micro-
phones
For connecting two microphones for stereo
recordings.
@ 'ON/OFF - DOLBY NR - B/C' buttons for the
noise-reduction system
Press the ON/OFF button during recording and
playback if you wish to suppress tape noise.
Press the 'B/C' button if you wish to use the
Dolby C system for even better noise reduction.
The display will show which system is in use.

@ 'REVERSE MODE' button
With this button you can choose from three
options: recording/playback of one or both
sides of the cassette and continuous playback
of both sides. See 'REVERSE MODE'.
(g) 'BLANK SKIP' button
Press this button if you wish to skip the blank
parts of a cassette. See 'BLANK SKIP FUNC-
TION'.
@ 'INDEX SCAN' button
With the index scan search system you will hear
the first lOseconds of each recording. See
'INDEX SCAN SYSTEM'.
@ 'QMS' button
The Quick Music Search enables you to select
a certain part on the tape by skipping other
recordings. See 'QUICK MUSIC SEARCH
SYSTEM (QMS)'.
(g) 'TIMER' button
This switch enables you to preset the recorder
in recording or playback position for use with a
timer. See 'RECORDING/PLAYBACK VIA TI-
MER'.
OPERATION
SWITCHING ON/OFF
Switching on: press the power 'ON/OFF' switch
0; the display will now light up.
Does no indicator light up?
- Then the cassette deck has not been switched on.
- The mains plug is not in the socket.
- The socket is not live.
Switching off: Press the power 'ON/OFF' switch
0 once again.
REVERSE MODE
The cassette tape can be recorded in either of two
different modes and played back in three different
modes. The display will show which mode is
selected,
see Fig. 7;

7a: the tape stops at the end of each side of the
cassette, both during recording and playback.

7b: the tape runs through once in forward
direction,
reverses at the end of the cassette and
will play the other side. The tape will stop at the the
end of the second side. This applies for both
recording and playback.

7c: During playback in this mode, the automatic
reverse operates on both ends of the cassette.
Both sides of the cassette are continually repeated.
In the recording mode however, the tape will
reverse only at the end of the first side, after which
the second side is recorded. The tape will then stop
at the end of the second side.
