d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of
children and do not allow persons unfamiliar
with the power tool or these instructions to
operate the power tool. Power tools are dan-
gerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools and accessories. Check
for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other condition
that may affect the power tool’s operation. If
damaged, have the power tool repaired be-
fore use. Many accidents are caused by poorly
maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to bind and are easier to
control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and ac-
cessory tools etc. in accordance with these
instructions, taking into account the working
conditions and the work to be performed.
Use of the power tool for operations different
from those intended could result in a hazardous
situation.
h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry,
clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery
handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for
safe handling and control of the tool in unex-
pected situations.
5. Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified
repair person using only identical replace-
ment parts. This will ensure that the safety of
the power tool is maintained.
Appliance-specific safety instructions
for power planers
Wait until the cutter block comes to a complete
standstill before putting down the power tool.
An exposed, rotating cutter block can catch in
the surface and cause a loss of control which
could result in serious injuries.
Hold the power tool by the insulated handles as
the cutter block can come into contact with its
own power cable. Contact with a live wire may
make exposed metal parts of the power tool live
and could give the operator an electric shock.
Fix and secure the workpiece to a sturdy work
surface using clamps or other methods. If you
hold the workpiece in your hands or against
your body only it will remain unstable, and this
can result in loss of control.
Wait until the cutter block
comes to a com-
plete standstill before putting down the appli-
ance. An exposed cutter block can catch in the
surface and cause a loss of control which could
result in serious injuries.
Do not insert your fingers into the chip ejector
. You can injure yourself on rotating parts!
Always switch the appliance on before apply-
ing it to the workpiece. Otherwise, there is a
risk of kickback if the planing blade catches in
the workpiece.
The plane sole
must lie flat on the work-
piece when working. Otherwise, there is a risk
of injury due to the plane jamming.
Never plane over metal objects. The planing
blade/cutter block
could be damaged.
Secure the workpiece. Use clamps/a vice to
hold the workpiece firmly in place. This is safer
than simply holding it in your hand.
Materials containing asbestos may not be
processed. Asbestos is a known carcinogen.
