you correspond must do the same otherwise the quality of the
sound could be worsened instead of being improved.
6.8 Timeout timer
If you remain in transmission for too long you could discharge the
batteries too rapidly and you could prevent others from making urgent
calls since you are keeping the channel busy and only one party can
talk at one time. For this reason you can program your
MIDLAND
G12(ortheoneoftheotherparty)withtimeouttimer.Thisfunction
temporarily blocks transmission if this exceeds a preset duration.

between 20 and 180 seconds.

Iftimeouttimerisenabled,thedisplayshowsthe
icon. When you
arenearingtheendofthepresettimeoutyouwillbenotiedbya
series of warning beeps that transmission time is coming to an end
and you should release the
PTT button to go into reception mode.
When the time is over the transceiver is forced back into reception
mode.
2 It is possible to employ the timeout with a further function obtaining
a more sophisticated use. The “Penalty time” is set in the manner
described below.

6.9 Forced reception time
It is possible to set MIDLAND G12 so that when the timeout timer
isinprogress(refertopreviousparagraph),itisnotonlynecessary
to release the
PTTbuttontobeabletotransmitagain,butalsoitis
necessarytoremaininreceptionforapredenedtime(thatiswithout
pressing
PTT).Tosetforcedreceptiontimedothefollowing:

correctly set between 20 and 180 seconds.

If,forexample,yousettheTimeoutTimertobe60secondsandthe
compulsoryreceptiontimetobe30seconds,theradiocantransmit
for 60 seconds after which time the transceiver is forced in reception
mode. In order to transmit again you have to release the
PTT
buttonandwaitanother30seconds.Whentransmissionisenabled,
MIDLAND G12 gives an audio signal.
