18 Recommended Spindle Speeds
The right spindle speed depends on a number of
factors.
A rule of thumb is: uneven timber, large workpieces,
hard wood = lowest spindle speed

20 Assembly of Workstand
The workstand HDM is available as optional accessory to provide a stable base for the lathe, at a convenient
working height.
1. Join base plates (701) with brackets (702) placed inside at position A.
2. Attach legs (703) to base plates at position B.
3. Bolt struts (704) inbetween legs at position C.
4. Remove protective foil from rubber mat (705) and place mat into recess Z of base plates.
5. Mount lathe on the workstand, using the outer set of holes, with hexagon bolts M 6x20, spring washers B 6.4
and hexagon nuts M 6.
6. To ensure maximum upright stability we recommend to bolt the workstand to the floor. Compensate for uneven
floor with shims or washers placed under legs as appropriate.
19 Tools
Best turning results can be achieved only with sharp tools. After grinding and resharpening the cutting edges of
the tools must be honed and lapped on a suitable waterstone or slipstone.
