Screw faceplate with the workpiece on the headstock
spindle, and set the tailstock forward so that the re
volving centre can support the workpiece.
Set the toolrest as close as possible against the work
piece (5 - 10 mm), and set height to centre line. Turn
workpiece by hand to see if it can turn freely, and check
that all levers are tightened.
When screw holes are not desirable, the faceplate can
be fastened with hot-melt glue.
The faceplate must be free from grease, oil and dust for
a good bond. The back of the workpiece must be planed
flat. After glue has set check firm seat of the faceplate by
trying to pull it off the workpiece.
By heating the faceplate the workpiece can be removed.
Only after the workpiece has been roughly shaped and
it is running true is the tailstock removed.
- The workpiece can now be finished.
Reposition the tool rest and shape the face of the
workpiece.

Switch on motor only after the machine is correctly set,
the proper seat of the workpiece has been chec ked, and
all knobs and levers are tightened.
- The first step is to rough out the workpiece, i.e. turning
it round.
Select appropriate spindle speed by changing the belt on
the pulleys. For safety reasons always start with the
lowest speed.
