Rules
If the Lady is the only one to choose that boutique, she may keep as many cards
as she wishes and replace the non-chosen cards in the appropriate pile.
If a favourite boutique is not visited by any Lady (The Lady’s own boutique
included), a Discount is given to the team of the Lady who owns that
boutique. See ‘Discount’ in the following phase.
ATTENTION : unlike with Wardrobe cards, each Lady
may only choose one Servant card during this phase,
no matter how many Ladies chose this boutique.
A
TTENTION : Wardrobe cards that feature two designers
mean that two designers have been selected instead of one.
The Lady may not choose one or other of those designers.
Example: Melanie and another Lady choose to visit the Emporium.
Melanie’s Gentleman has the Number token ‘1’ so she is the fi rst to choose
a card from this boutique. Once she has chosen a card and placed it face-
down in front of her she passes the remaining cards to the other Lady.
When Melanie gets the cards back again from that Lady, she decides she
will not make any further purchases. She passes the cards again to the other
Lady who may choose more cards.
When all the Ladies have selected their future purchases move to phase 3: Evening.
Afternoon: Buying with the Gentlemen
The goal for each Gentleman is to make money by sales based on the Current
Market or by honouring visible contracts.
In turn order (as indicated by the Number tokens that were picked in the
Morning), each Gentleman may:
Sell their Resource tokens at the price indicated on the Current Market
card. He discards the Resource tokens that he wishes to sell and takes the
corresponding amount of money from the bank. The discarded Resource
tokens are replaced in the game box.
Then each lady takes as many Wardrobe or Servant cards as shown on the
Artisan card that she just played.
Then, from those cards, she takes one that she places in the ‘window’, (face-
up), in front of her favourite boutique. The other cards are placed face-down
under the card in the ‘window’ in front of the boutique.
1300£
Example: Melanie takes 4 Wardrobe: Jewel
cards and chooses a 4-star tiara, which she
places face-up in front of her favourite shop.
The other cards are placed face-down under the
face-up card.
Then each lady chooses the Visit marker that
corresponds to the shop where she hopes to
make her purchases, and hides it in front of her.
Note: The Artisan cards rest in front of the
boutiques.
Once all the Ladies have chosen, they all reveal their Visit markers and they
move on to phase 2: Afternoon.
Morning: Gentlemen at the Stock Exchange
At the starting signal (given by one Gentleman), all Gentlemen play
simultaneously. Their goal is to get a maximum 3 Resource tokens from
the face-down stock.
They also need to get a Number token, ideally the one of the lowest value. This will
determine the turn order of the following phases for all Gentlemen and Ladies.
In order to obtain their 3 Resource tokens and their Number token, each
Gentleman turns over and looks at the tokens with one hand. He may either
keep the token, placing it face-up in front of him, or put it back, face-down.
He may not put back into the game a token that he has decided to keep.
He may not obtain more than 3 Resource tokens in this phase. If a
Gentleman gets more than 3 Resource tokens in this phase he must discard
at random any tokens above 3.
Once a Gentleman nds and decides to keep a Number token, he must stop
looking and let the other Gentlemen complete the phase.
Example: Ben picks 3 Resource tokens: wheat, tea and the gold ingot.
He looks for a Number token that will not mean his team goes last in each
upcoming phase. He grabs the Number token ‘1’. His team will perform
their actions fi rst in the coming phases.
Note : A Number token can be taken even if the Gentleman does not have 3
Resources tokens. In this case, however, he may not continue to pick Resource
tokens for the rest of the phase.
Once all the Gentlemen have a Number token move to phase 2: the Afternoon.
Afternoon
Afternoon: Buying with the Ladies
Each Lady retrieves the Wardrobe or Servant cards from in
front of the boutique that they chose with their Visit marker.
Each Lady’s objective is to choose a card that gains them
Elegance points and fi ts in their wardrobe:
If multiple Ladies have chosen the same shop, it is always the Lady who is
rst in the turn order (see the Number tokens picked by the Gentlemen in
the Morning) who takes the cards and chooses before the others. From those
cards, the Lady chooses one that she places face-down in front of her. That is
her purchase. Following turn order, she passes the remaining cards to the next
Lady who is visiting the same boutique as her. Once all the ladies involved have
chosen one card, the remaining cards are passed to the rst Lady who may
choose another if she wishes. Cards that are not chosen are replaced under the
corresponding pile.
