User interface concepts
Home - Back - Settings
The Home button brings you back to the GigaVU starting
screen. This is convenient if you want to start a new action
or got lost in the menu structure.
The Home screen will give feedback of battery status
(upper left corner) and the amount of free diskspace.
Use the settings button to:
Battery :Select between % and time left
Disk: Select between % free and Gbytes left
Note :
The battery status indication expressed in % is rather
accurate. The indication of the time left is more of an
estimation. The power consumption of GigaVu depends
on the kind of activity. Playing music files will consume
much less energy than playing video files while using the
tv out. The time left is obtained by performing a calculation
taking into account the battery status and the average
consumption. It is provided for easiness but will be less
accurate than the % readings.

Back
This button brings you one step higher in the menu
hierarchy. Generally, this is a direct step back, but
sometimes you will be prompted into a needed interface
screen.
Settings
This button only has a function when the green LED inside
the button is on. The LED goes on when there are some
context sensitive settings that can be changed. Mostly
these are options you can adjust to tailor the user interface
to your specific needs.
Albums
GigaVu works with ‘Albums’. You can have Photo Albums,
Movie Albums and Music Albums. Anytime you copy
content from a memory card to the hard disk, GigaVu will
create a new Album. You can rename and delete albums
but you can not move content from one album to another.
If you connect GigaVu to a computer, all albums will show
up as sub-folders. (See Getting Data into GigaVu for more
details)
Selecting content
In many cases you will have to select pictures or songs
for copying, deleting, viewing etc. In all cases the same
selecting mechanism is used.
For selecting pictures you have two options: thumbnail
selection or file list selection.
In both cases a small rectangle in front of the filename or
at the top left corner of a thumbnail shows if this picture
is selected or not. You can use the joystick to navigate
through the pictures. Pressing the joystick will toggle
between selected or not selected.

Softkey 1 All: select all pictures in this album
Softkey 2 None :deselect all pictures
Softkey 3 Recall: Recall last selection. GigaVu
remembers the last selection you made
in this album. You do not have to store
selections, GigaVu does this automatically.
There is one selection for each album. If , for
example, you selected a number of pictures
for printing and afterwards want to start a
slide show, pressing ‘Recall’ in the slide
show menu will select the same pictures as
used for printing.
