1. Oter le capuchon et dévisser la bougie à l’aide de la clé fournie.
2. Nettoyerles électrodes àl’aide d’une brossemétallique[1] pour éliminerles dépôts decalamine.
3. Si celles-ci présentent des signes d’usure, remplacer la bougie par une neuve, de mêmes
caractéristiques.
4. Vérifier l’écartement des électrodes [2] avec un jeu de cales d’épaisseur. Lorsqu’un réglage est
nécessaire, tordre soigneusement l’électrode latérale.
5. Revisser la bougie à la main jusqu’à l’assise sur son siège.
6. Pour une bougie neuve, donner

tour supplémentaire avec la clé à bougie.
Si vous réinstallez la même bougie,

4
de tour supplémentaire suffit.
PRÉCAUTION:
Une bougie mal serrée risque de chauffer et d’endommager le moteur. En serrant la bougie de façon
excessive ou de travers, vous endommagerez le bloc moteur irrémédiablement.
FILTRE À AIR
L’élément filtrant en mousse doit être nettoyé régulièrement pour éviter que les impuretés ne
pénètrent dans le moteur et ne provoquent une usure prématurée. Un filtre à air sale diminue la
puissance du moteur et augmente la consommation de carburant.
1. Ouvrir le capot de filtre à air [3] et sortir l’élément filtrant [4] du porte-filtre [5].
2. Lenettoyer à l’eausavonneuse chaude oudansun solvant ininflammable,puis le laissersécher.
3. Plonger l’élément dans de l’huile moteur propre et le presser pour en extraire l’excédent.
4. Replacer l’élément de mousse et le capot de filtre.
GRAISSAGE DU BOÎTIER DE TRANSMISSION
1. Dévisser la vis [6] sur le boîtier de transmission.
2. Introduire l’embout du tube de graisse spéciale au lithium (disponible auprès de votre revendeur
Honda) et remplir en faisant tourner l’outil de coupe pour bien répartir la graisse, jusqu’à ce
qu’elle ressorte par l’orifice de la vis [7].
3. Replacer la vis et serrer modérément.
MAINTENANCE
All models
1. Remove the cap and unscrew the spark plug using the wrench supplied.
2. Clean the electrodes with a wire brush [1] to remove carbon deposits.
3. If the electrodes show signs of wear, replace the spark plug with a new one with the same
characteristics.
4. Check the spark plug gap with feeler gauges [2]. When adjustment is required, carefully bend the
side electrode.
5. Reinstall the spark plug and screw it finger-tight onto its seat.
6. For new spark plugs, tighten by an additional

turn with the spark plug wrench.
When the same spark plus is installed,

of a turn is enough.
CAUTION:
If a spark plug is insufficiently tightened, it is liable to heat up and damage the engine. If the spark
plug is overtightened or cross-threaded, irreparable damage could be caused to the engine block.
AIR FILTER
The foam air filter element must be cleaned regularly to prevent impurities from entering the engine
andcausing premature wear.A dirty airfilter will reduceengine power andincrease fuel consumption.
1. Open the air filter cover [3] and remove the filter [4] from the filter housing [5].
2. Clean the filter with warm soapy water or in a nonflammable solvent and then leave to dry.
3. Dip the element in clean engine oil and squeeze out the excess oil.
4. Reinstall the foam filter element and the filter cover.
LUBRICATING THE TRANSMISSION HEAD
1. Remove the bolt [6] from the transmission head.
2. Insert the nozzle of the tube of special lithium grease (available from your Honda dealer) and fill
with grease while turning the cutting attachment so that the grease is properly distributed.
Continue until grease comes out of the bolt hole [7].
3. Reinstall the bolt and tighten moderately.
