Aim of the Game
Who will catch the most fish with Betty?
Preparation of the game
Put the wooden game board in the center of the table.
Before starting to play you have to pass the
cord through the hole in Betty Blue Whale,
from the inside to the outside.
Then place Betty Blue Whale in the middle of
the game board. Get the peg (Paula), the
hour-glass and all the fish ready.
The fish die will be needed for the variation “Color fish” and it is kept in
the box since it is not needed for this game.
How to play
Whoever shouts three times in a row “Betty and Paula in action” first,
starts the game. If you cannot agree, the youngest player starts and slips
into the role of Paula, pulling Betty across the sea!
Starting with the player to the left of “Paula”, the
players one by one place a fish on the sea surface
of the game board until there are eight fish (four
dotted and four striped ones). They may not be on
top of one another.
Watch out! The player who is “Paula” in this
round, may not put any fish on the game board.
Off you go on the grand fish catching!
Paula takes the end of the cord in one hand, the peg in the other hand.
Together the other players give the starting signal “Betty Blue Whale”
and the hourglass is turned upside-down.
Paula now tries to catch as many fish as possible
with Betty. Stick the peg in any hole of the game
board. Then place the cord around the peg and pull
the end of the cord so that Betty moves forward.
