12. 30 A automobile fuse
Charger use
Warning – danger of explosion! Batteries with cell
closure cannot be charged. Explosive gas generation
risk. Nickel-cadmium batteries and batteries that are not
rechargeable cannot be charged in the charger. Casing of
these battery types can tear apart.
Putting into operation
Attention: Danger of damage!
The charger needs to be installed to a place protected
against humidity and moist air.
Make sure
- there were no combustible materials or gases near the
appliance,
- the charger installation place was well ventilated and
the surface sufficiently firm.
- Attention! Use the battery charger in an upright position
only.
Do not in any case lay the power cords and drop cables to
the battery in a manner that they were too much stretched,
broken or lay over any sharp edges. The charger holes for
air inlet and outlet must remain free.
Before charging, disconnect the vehicle battery from the
current source in the vehicle to prevent any appliances
from influencing the charging process. First disconnect the
negative pole, then the positive one.
Appropriate instructions can be found in the battery
Operating Instructions. Batteries requiring maintenance
need to be prepared as follows: clean the battery surface
with a damp cloth so that no impurities could get in the
battery. Unscrew the hat-guard from each cell if possible.
Warning! Danger of injury! It is necessary to prevent
contact with the battery fluid! Check the fluid state. If the
fluid reaches in one or several cells below the minimum
level, add distilled water up to the guideline. Do not in any
case use normal tap water. Let the cells open during the
entire charging process so that generating gases could
escape.
Charger connection
Insert the mains plug to a ground and properly protected
230 V socket. Consultation with a specialist needs to take
place if anything is not clear. Connect the red positive
terminal of the charger with the battery positive pole (+
marking). Connect the black negative terminal of the
charger with the battery negative pole (– marking). The
charger is now ready to charge the connected battery.
Attention! Correct battery connection needs to be
observed!
Battery charging
- Connect the battery according to the above-mentioned
description.
- Using the selector switch (8), choose the charging
voltage. Choose the charging voltage according to the
battery type (see the battery type label), 12V or 24 V.
- Using the knob (6), select the battery type (lead, gel or
lead-calcium; see the battery type label). Appropriate
LED shows the selected battery type. If anything is not
clear, as far as the battery is concerned, consult that in
a specialised battery shop.
- By turning the knob “Ah“ (7) set the ampere-hours (Ah)
of the charged battery. Please take into account that
not all numbers can be set. If the required value cannot
be set, select the closest higher value.
- The charger will automatically start charging.
Charger disconnection
Attention – danger of damage! Make sure you did not cause
short-circuit at disconnecting. Switch the charger off. For
this purpose, set the switch (8) to a central position.
Disconnect the black negative terminal of the charger. Now
disconnect the red positive terminal of the charger. Pull the
230 V plug out of the socket. The following two steps need
to be taken at batteries requiring maintenance: Warning –
danger of injury! Prevent contact with the battery fluid!
Check the fluid level in battery cells. If the fluid reaches in
one or several cells under the minimum level, add distilled
water up to the guideline. Do not use normal tap water.
Close the open hat-guards of battery cells. Lubricate the
battery poles with some fat to prevent corrosion. Re-connect
the battery to the vehicle.
Special functions
- polarity reversal protection (1)
- protection against electric shock if the battery is
not connected (2)
- automatic switching off (3)
- thermal protection (4)
- charging keeping (5)
(1) Prevents battery damage caused by wrong
connection
(2) No voltage at both terminal contacts until
battery is connected.
(3) The charger will automatically finish charging
when the fixed set voltage value is reached.
(4) It will automatically switch off at overheating.
(HOO, LED (3) display will light up. After cooling
down, charging automatically continues.
(5) After automatic charging finish the charger
always switches on for a short time in regular time
intervals. The battery is thus always fully charged.
Display
- HOO - appliance is overheated, let it cool
down
- noP - wrong battery connection, no battery
is connected
- End - charging process finish, maintenance
charging is active
- A.. - current charging current during
charging
Maintenance and care
Attention – deadly danger of electric shock! Disconnect the
appliance from power before each cleaning and maintenance.
Attention – danger of machine damage! Never clean the
appliance under running or even spraying water. Do not use
any sharp cleaners or hard items for cleaning as they could
damage the appliance. Occasionally clean the appliance with
a damp cloth.
Failure diagnostics
Caution! Please contact the battery manufacturer if you
have any more detailed questions concerning the
battery data.
Appliance does not charge
- Check the fuses (12)
- Check the battery connection
- Check the appliance setting
- Check the system voltage
- Check the battery state
- Battery is discharged to a great extent (10V)
Appliance keeps overheating
- Ensure sufficient space around the appliance
- The charged battery is too big
- Too high temperature in the room
Battery does not charge entirely
- Battery is discharged to a great extent (below
10V in idle condition)
- Check the acid state
