CAUTION – When the steam dial is not turned to the complete open position,
partly or in whole, water and steam may be given off via the group head.
4. Turn the steam dial back to “0”. The appliance is ready for an extraction again
(the espresso indicator is illuminated).
NOTE
If the appliance will be idle for a sufficiently long time duration, there is no need to
cool down the water system manually. As soon as the reading of the temperature
gauge drops below 100°C (left-handed to the espresso icon), the correct extrac-
tion temperature is reached again.
SOLVING PROBLEMS
If any problems occur during operation, you will find the solution in this chapter.

Emergency stop? Unplug the appliance.
There is still a gap bet-
ween the portafilter and
filter basket.
The notch at the side wall
of the filter basket is not
in correct orientation.
Do not use violence! Turn the notch (protruding dot)
to the handle of the portafilter. Then try again. When in
correct orientation, the filter basket slides into the portafilter
without any resistance.
The filter basket is bent.
Replace the filter basket. Do not use any type of tool
for removing the filter basket from the portafil-
ter! Get in contact with your vendor for replacement.
You cannot install the por-
tafilter at the group head.
The portafilter is not in the
correct position under the
group head.
The handle of the portafilter must face to the 8 o'clock
position (front left side of the appliance) when attaching
the portafilter to the group head. If required, turn the
portafilter to and fro a little, while holding it in place at
the group head.
Too much coffee powder
in the filter basket.
The tamped coffee powder may not protrude the MAX
marking at the filter basket. Scratch off some coffee pow-
der. See: ‘Operation / Filling in Coffee Powder’).
The filter basket is not
inserted correctly into the
portafilter.
There may be no gap between the portafilter and filter
basket. Turn the filter basket to the correct orientation for
inserting the filter basket into the portafilter (see: ‘Prepa-
ring the Appliance for Operation’).
