with oven gloves.
Do not use any hard or sharp-edged utensils for stirring, cutting, or scratching in the
cooking pot to avoid damage to the surfaces. Only use wooden or plastic cooking
utensils.
1. Prepare the Multicook for operation (see: ‘Preparing the Cooker for Operation’),
but leave the cooking pot empty.
2. Turn the START/Select dial until the indicator reaches the SEAR function.
3. Open the lid and keep the lid open in the stable open position.
Note:
If the lid is locked, an acoustic signal will sound and “OPEN LID” will appear on
the LCD screen. However, the Multicook can only detect, whether the lid is locked
via the lid knob. Ensure to lift the lid to the stable open position. Otherwise, the
SEAR function will not work properly.
4. Press the START/Select dial to confirm the SEAR function.
The STOP/CANCEL button backlight will illuminate red, the LCD screen will
illuminate orange and indicate “PREHEATING”. The cooker will start operation
immediately.
As soon as the cooker has reached the set temperature, “PREHEATING” will dis-
appear and the timer starts counting up.
5. Place the food into the cooking pot, being aware that the food could splash vigo-
rously. Cook your food to the desired consistency.
The SEAR function will run up to a maximum of 45 minutes.
6. At any time during the cooking process you may:
- pause the cooking cycle by pressing the STOP/CANCEL button,
- cancel the cycle by pressing the STOP/CANCEL button twice.
After 45 minutes elapsed, the cooker alert will sound, the STOP/CANCEL button
backlight will go out and the LCD screen will illuminate blue.
WARNING: After operation, the appliance and all parts of it (especially the hea-
ting compartment) will be hot. Only touch the appliance by the handles. Ensure to
protect your hands and arms with oven gloves to avoid scalds, when
taking out the cooking pot.
Do not place the hot cooking pot on surfaces sensi-
tive to heat, fat, or moisture to avoid damage.
When adding fresh food and liquid to the hot cooking pot, be aware of splashes.
