Troubleshooting MR2500
Indicator Light
Description Causes Solution
Power/Standby Constant green Energizer is operating at
full power
None
Constant yellow Low Power None
Flashing red Electrical interference preventing
Energizer receiving clear Remote
signal.
Self corrects when interfeence
reduces. Reduce sensitivity via
switches (see illustration with
“Remote Control electrical
interference” section).
Constant red Remote has switched Energizer to
Standby mode.
Use Remote to switch Energizer ON
again or reset the power supply.
Fence
Flashing green Voltage is greater than 3.4kV None
Flashing red Voltage is less than 3.4kV. The
Energizer is reaching its limit for
effective animal control.
Fence maintenance is
required.
Fault Pos si ble Cause(s) So lu tion
Energizer doesn’t operate Energizer Off Switch ON
Break in supply circuit Test power point
Faulty Energizer Have Energizer repaired
Electric fence voltage is
below 3000V or your stock
are escaping
Inadequate earthing Improve the earth system by adding more galvanised
earth stakes to the earth system until the earth
voltage is 200V or below.
Short on the fence line Check the electrical con nec tions are secure, eg. from
the fence to the red terminal, from the earth system
to the green terminal, at gates etc.
Check the voltage on the fence every 33m (100ft)
using the Digital Volt Meter (G5030). Note if the
voltage is dropping. The closer to a fault, the lower
the voltage reading will be. Become aware of things
that cause faults and always be on the lookout for:
stray pieces of wire on the fence, heavy vegetation
growth, cracked or broken in su la tors, broken wires.
Faulty Energizer Unplug the Energizer from the power supply and
remove the fence wire from the Red terminal. Plug
Energizer in again. Using a Digital Volt Meter (G5030)
check the voltage across the ter mi nals. If the voltage
is less than 5000V, have Energizer repaired.
If your Remote Control does not
switch the Energizer ON or OFF,
check:
1. You are getting a good earth connection
with your Remote Control. Use damp
ground or connect the Remote earth
stake to a larger earth, like earth wire or
iron fence stake.
2. The Energizer earth is good.
3. There is not a large short on the fence
near where you are trying to operate
the Remote Control. The Remote is like
a small Energizer. The pulses will power
through small shorts but have difficulty
with large shorts.
4. The fence connections are good. Fault
find connections by beginning at the
Energizer and progressively working
towards where the Remote does not
work. A Smartfix (G5090) or Digital
Volt Meter (G5030) will assist. Use Joint
Clamps (G6030) to ensure good wire
connections.
5. The “Power/Standby” light is not
flashing on the Energizer. If it is,
this means there is high electrical
interference on the fence causing the
Energizer to ignore the Remote Control
signal. Refer to “Remote Control
electrical interference” section above.
