7.15 Battery monitoring
7.15.1 Low-battery condition
All system devices continuously monitor their battery condition. When the low-battery indicator on a device comes on, replace
the battery for the device as soon as possible. Before replacing the battery, switch the system into test mode. After replacing
the battery, switch the system back into operating mode.
If a door/window contact detector or a PIR movement detector has a low-battery condition, the condition will be recorded by
the control panel and an event message will be stored in the event log.
7.15.2 Control panel
If the power supply is interrupted, the control panel will be powered by the rechargeable main battery. Under normal-battery
conditions, the power indicator will flash at 1-second intervals. Under low-battery, the power indicator will flash at 3-second
intervals.
7.15.3 Remote control
Under low-battery conditions, the transmit indicator will continue to flash after the button has been released. Under normal-
battery conditions, the transmit indicator will go off within 2 seconds after the button has been released.
7.15.4 Door/window contact detector
Under low-battery conditions, the transmit indicator will come on for 1 second after the door or the window has been opened.
Under normal-battery conditions, the transmit indicator will not come on (unless the detector is in test mode with the battery
cover removed).
7.15.5 PIR movement detector
Under low-battery conditions, the indicator behind the detector lens will flash when movement is detected. Under normal-
battery conditions, the indicator behind the detector lens will not come on (unless the detector is in walk-test mode).
