Chain drives
Bicycle chains are parts subject to wear
due to use. The degree of wear is prone to
strong fluctuations.
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
A worn bicycle chain can pop off or
break during cycling, causing
extremely serious falls.
Have a worn bicycle chain replaced
immediately by your FLYER special-
ist dealer.
Check the chain and the gearwheels reg-
ularly for signs of wear (visual inspection).
Have a worn chain and worn gear-
wheels replaced by a specialist dealer.
Check the chain tension.
For the safe functioning of the chain
drive and the gear shift, the chain must
have a certain tension.
Derailleur gears automatically tension the
chain. In the case of hub gears, a chain
that sags too much must be tensioned.
Otherwise, it may come off, which can
lead to a fall.
i
Important: Always switch off the
electric drive and remove the bat-
tery before working on the chain!
This also applies when you want to
put a broken chain back on the
gearwheels.

Belt drives
i
Important: Observe the relevant
manufacturer's instructions for your
belt drive when handling the drive belt.
Drive belts are usually very durable and
long-lasting. However, extreme care must
be taken before and during installation to
avoid damage to the carbon fibers, which
provide the actual strength of the drive belt.
Extreme bending and twisting causes
cracks, which can lead to belt defects at
higher loads.
If nubs on pulleys or belts are damaged or
missing, the belt may slip off during cycling.
Worn pulleys can damage the belt. A worn
belt can break.
Check the belt and pulleys regularly for
signs of wear (visual inspection).
Have a worn belt and worn pulleys
replaced by a specialist dealer.

the individual drive components in the
corresponding manufacturer's instruc-
tions for your electric drive.
Disc brakes
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
Brakes are safety-related components.
With incorrectly maintained or unmain-
tained brakes, accidents and serious
injuries can occur.
Have your disc brake maintained
regularly and always by a FLYER
specialist dealer.
NOTE! Risk of damage!
Disc brake pads can "glaze", reducing
braking efficiency and causing an unfa-
miliar squeal when braking.
