Quick release, quick-release axles and
joints
Clean the quick release, quick-release
axles and other joints with a clean and
lightly oiled cloth or soft brush.
Lubricate the quick releases, quick-re-
lease axles and other joints with a suitable
lubricant approved by the manufacturer
after each cleaning, after cycling in the
rain or after the suspension elements have
become very wet for any other reason.
Ask your FLYER specialist dealer to
instruct you on how to carry out this task.
Lighting components
Clean the lighting components (headlight,
rear light and reflectors) with a damp cloth
with clear water or, if necessary, with mild
soapy water. Afterwards, wash off the
soap suds with clear water.
9 Maintenance and
replacement of wear
parts
i
Important: Check and maintain your
e-bike and the components installed
on it every six months as described in
this chapter so that you can notice
signs of wear yourself in good time
and prevent functional losses.
WARNING!
Risk of accident and injury
The e-bike and its components are sub-
ject to wear and high stress. Different
materials and components can react
differently to wear or continuous stress.
If a component's planned service life is
exceeded, it can suddenly fail, possibly
causing harm to the cyclist.
If a component shows any type of
cracks, scoring or color changes in
highly stressed areas, replace the
component.
If components wear out unnoticed, a
loss of function of the component and
consequently a fall and serious injuries
can result.
In addition to the inspection
described here, which you carry out
yourself, have your e-bike inspected
regularly by a FLYER specialist
dealer as indicated and have worn
components replaced.18
Wheel set
Check the tires for cracks and damage and
determine if the tread is in the correct range.
Have damaged or worn tires replaced
by your FLYER specialist dealer.
Check the tire pressure.19
Deflate or inflate the tire if the tire
pressure is too high or too low.
Check the rims for damage.
Some rims have indentations to deter-
mine the wear limit. In this case, check
whether the indentation on the rim can be
felt. If the indentation is hardly or not at
all noticeable, the rim must be replaced.
Have wear on carbon rims determined by
your FLYER specialist dealer.
Have damaged or worn rims replaced
by your FLYER specialist dealer.
Check the spoke tension.
To do so, gently squeeze two spokes
at a time and determine if the spokes
have even tension.
If spokes are loose, have them retight-
ened by your FLYER specialist dealer.
Make sure that the fenders are correctly
aligned and that the struts are firmly fixed
in the tear-off locks.
The wheel set must pass the fenders
without contact.
18 For information on regular inspection by a FLYER
specialist dealer, see chapter 7.6 “Regular inspection”.
19 Information on the correct tire pressure can be found
in chapter 19 “Wheel sets and tires”.
