7 Adjustments
7.1 Connecting electric power tools
CAUTION
Risk of injury
- Make sure that the electric power tool is
switched off.
- Observe the maximum appliance socket con-
nected load (see "Technical data")
Connect the electric power tool to the appliance
socket [1-5].
7.2 Connecting suction hoses
Insert the suction hose into the intake opening
[1-2].
Set the hose diameter adjuster [1-6] to match
the diameter of the connected hose.
This ensures that the suction capacity is meas-
ured correctly.
7.3 Adjusting the suction power
You can use the suction power adjuster [1-4] to
adapt the machine suction power to different ap-
plications.
7.4 Applying the brake
The brake prevents the mobile dust extractor from
rolling.
Applying the brake [1-12]
Releasing the brake [1-13]
8 Working with the machine
The extraction hose is connected to the extraction
sleeve on the outlet spigot of the electric power
tool. The special hose supplied with the suction
sleeve is designed for use with the PLANEX and
most other Festool machines.
Check the fi lter element for damage before start-
ing work.
Check the volume monitor before starting work:
Cover the end of the hose while the motor is
running.
An acoustic warning signal sounds after 1 sec-
ond.
You may now start extracting.
8.1 Extracting dry materials
CAUTION
Hazardous dust!
- Use a fi lter or disposal bag when extracting
hazardous materials!
The fi lter element will become damp when fl uids
are extracted. A damp filter element will clog
more quickly when dry materials are extracted.
Therefore, dry the fi lter element before extracting
dry materials or replace the damp fi lter with a dry
one.
8.2 Extracting fl uids
Remove the fi lter bag before extracting any fl u-
ids.
The dust extractor stops automatically when the
maximum level is reached.
If foam or fl uid starts to escape, switch off the
machine immediately and empty the dust con-
tainer.
8.3 The antistatic system
Friction inside the extraction hose causes static
electricity to develop during extraction. Operating
personnel may receive unpleasant electric shocks
while working. The mobile dust extractor is fi tted
with an antistatic system as standard to discharge
any static electricity that may develop. However,
always use the enclosed AS extraction hose.
8.4 After fi nishing work
Switch off the mobile dust extractor and discon-
nect the plug.
Empty the dust container.
Wind up the mains power cable on the cable hook
[1-7].
CAUTION
Hazardous dust!
- Wipe down the mobile dust extractor and clean
all accessories thoroughly using the extrac-
tor (inside and out) before removing from the
working area.
- Parts that you were not able to clean thoroughly
must be sealed in an airtight plastic bag prior
to transportation.
- Wear a dust mask!
Place the mobile dust extractor in a dry room
inaccessible to unauthorised users.
9 Service and maintenance
9.1 Acoustic warning signal
An acoustic warning signal sounds if the air speed
in the suction hose falls below 20 m/s.
Possible causes and remedies
- Suction power adjuster setting too low:
Set the suction power adjuster to a higher set-
ting.
- Hose diameter setting does not match the diam-
