If the wick is abnormally hard or blocked or burns abnormally it must be replaced by an
appropriately qualified professional. Ask your supplier.
The wick and its replacement are not covered by the guarantee. Therefore follow the
instructions for use closely in order to ensure maximum performance.
A non-original wick that does not have the correct properties or is incorrectly adjusted can
have a negative effect on the combustion process, with the risk of de-activation or carbon
monoxide poisoning. Your heater will then no longer meet the requirements!
The guarantee lapses when a wick other than an original wick is used.
E. IGNITION
Before igniting the heater, check that:
- the heater is stable and horizontal
- there are not object located within 1 metre of the heater
- the correct batteries (4 x LR14) are in place
- the burner is in the correct position over the wick
- the tank contains a sufficient quantity of the correct fuel
- all other circumstances are safe
For your convenience and safety, this heater is fitted with an ignition system that is powered
by the four batteries that you have already placed in the battery compartment of the heater.
ATTENTION: when using this heater for the first time you must for two hours after placing
the tank before igniting the heater. The wick must be thoroughly saturated with fuel.
We recommend that you ignite the heater outside when you first use it because certain parts
of the heater are coated with grease in the factory and this must burn off.
If you want to test the heater during a warm season you may experience problems with
ignition. A temperature-sensitive safety feature is linked to the wick mechanism. When the
ambient temperature exceeds 25°C it is no longer possible to ignite the heater. Wait until the
temperature drops or carry the test out after the heater has been cool for some time (out of
drafts).
Ignition:
1. Turn the adjustment knob for the wick height (7 in diagram A)
clockwise until the wick is at its highest position.
2. Press the ignition button (6 in diagram A) so that the igniter
makes contact with the wick.
3. As soon as the wick is lit (normally after 1 or 2 seconds),
release the button. The spiral filament will then drop down. Do
not depress the button for too long, in order to prevent the wick
from burning. If the wick does not ignite, try again after 10 to
15 seconds.
4. If necessary, move the metal spring that is fitted under the
burner back and forth a little (see diagram B) so that the
burner moves into the correct position.
5. Check the flames after the heater has been lit for 5 to 7 minutes. The flames must be red
and evenly distributed across the entire length of the burner (see diagram I). If this is not
the case, move the spring fitted under the burner carefully back and forth (see diagram
B).
WARNING: never ignite your heater with a match, lighter or other fire!
