autoSteady 30
Ref: AS101-UM-TKI-0114-Rev. A
Stop work immediately if you are in doubt about the assembly or any procedures and consult one of our
engineers (Please refer to contact information on the last page of this manual).
Locate the battery isolation switch to be accessible at all times.
Do not remove, change or alter any parts of the chassis. Any drilling of holes in the chassis is not allowed.
Do not install the system if you are under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication that could impair your
ability to use the equipment safely.
INSTALLATION - MECHANICAL COMPONENTS
FOR PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION ONLY. These instructions are for general guidance.
Installation procedures may vary depending on caravan type.
Working under a vehicle without appropriate support is extremely dangerous!
Please refer to figure 8 for an overview of the whole assembly fully fitted.
Place the caravan on a hard, level surface. The use of a lifting ramp or an assembly pit is ideal for access and
personal safety.
Unpack all the components and check for the presence of all parts (see package contents list). Ensure all parts
are under good condition.
Clean the corner steady and area of chassis where you need to mount all components in order to ensure a good
fitting.
Make sure the caravan is prepared for installation. Check before installation that important areas, such as
drains/spare tyre etc, do not cause any obstruction to the function and wires of the autoSteady system.
Completely draw back all of the manually operated corner steady.
Dismount the manually operated corner steady from the bottom of your caravan by removing the nuts (Fig. 1A).
Remove the original spindle (Fig. 2A) from the corner steady, by removing the connecting spring pin (Fig. 2B).
First turn the spindle until the small-head of the spring pin appears at the hole (Fig. 2C) on bracket. Fix the
corner steady and the spindle, on a table (or floor) to avoid any unnecessary rotation of the spindle. Knock the
spring pin (Fig. 2B) out by a hammer and the tool (7) supplied (insert the small head into the spring pin).
Please make sure you knock the spring pin in (Fig. 2B) from the small-head side. Knocking
from the big-head side may damage the corner steady and result in a failed installation.
Remove the original spindle from the corner steady by turning the spindle.
Before mounting the new motorized spindle (1 & 2) on the original corner steady, please check carefully the
chassis and the sliding plate mounted on the bottom of caravan (if applicable). We supplied two versions of the
motorized spindle (Motorized spindle-V1 (1) and Motorized spindle-V2 (2)). The difference between the two
versions is the position of motors. You need to check the sliding plate and the chassis to choose the correct
motorized spindle, which shouldn’t interfere with the sliding plate/chassis and motorized spindle. See Fig. 3 for
details.
Then mount the proper motorized spindle (1 or 2) into the original corner steady:
Turn the spindle into the screw nut (Fig. 4A), until the end of spindle can be put into the hole (Fig. 4B) on
the original bracket of the corner steady.
Having put the end of the spindle (Fig. 5A) into the hole (Fig. 4B) on the original bracket of the corner
steady, turn the motorized spindle electronically (by a 12v battery, be very careful!) or manually to draw
back the corner steady completely (Fig. 5).
Mount the bearing (8) on the retaining ring of the bearing (Fig. 5B). Please notice the side without the steel
cover (Fig. 5C) of the bearing should face to the motor side.
Mount the 19mm hex head (10) (Fig. 5D) to the end of spindle (Fig. 5A).
Turn the spindle until both holes on the 19mm hex head (10) and the spindle are in line and upright. Use a
hammer to mount the pin for fixing the 19mm hex head (9) (Fig. 5E) into the holes. The smooth end of
this pin should be put into the holes at first.
