2. ERECTING YOUR AWNING
2.1 Introduction
The erection of your awning or porch awning is a relatively simple task.
For the experienced camper everything will be simple and straightfor-
ward, for the new caravanner it may seem a little complicated at first but
after a few practice runs things should quickly drop into place. In the next
few paragraphs we will provide clear instructions and other useful hints
and tips which hopefully will make erecting your awning much easier.
Before starting to erect your awning, porch awning or annex we would
like to point out that you have bought a product with a universal shape.
Because of the big differences in shapes of new and older caravans, some
styles of caravans will hold a better shape than others, we suggest you
keep this in mind when looking at the final shape.
2.2 Instructions for erecting your awning
1) Put the caravan on a flat piece of ground completely horizontal in
order to create the best possible tension of your awning.
2) Before you start to insert the awning into the caravan rail, you first
need to check the rail for any sharp edges. In order to prevent any
damage from happening to the awning always remove any obstruc-
tions. Also check for any sealant that may remain inside the caravan-
rail.
3) To prevent your awning from getting dirty, it is advisable to use a
plastic foil on which you can place the awning on to. If necessary,
clean the caravan rail in order to prevent any soiling.
4) After you have unfolded the awning, zip out all the removable pa-
nels. By removing these, sliding the awning through the caravan rail
will become a lot easier. For further instructions of the use of the
zips we would like to direct you to page 49 where detailed instruc-
tions of the zips are described.
5) You are now ready to insert the awning into the caravan rail.
Feeding the white beading through the caravan rail is best done
with two persons, by which one person pulls the awning along
the cara van rail while the other person looks after the awning
being fed correctly into the caravan rail. Make sure that the left
