To charge the battery pack (8), insert it into the
charger (10) as shown and plug in the charger.
Be sure that the battery pack is fully seated in the
charger. The red charging indicator (11) will blink.
After approx. 1 hour, it will stop blinking and
remain on. The battery pack is now fully charged.
The battery pack can be removed at any time or
left in the connected charger indefinitely.
Inserting and removing the battery pack
Insert the battery pack into the pistol grip (7) until
it clicks in place.
To remove the battery pack, press the two
release buttons (9) simultaneously and pull the
pack out of the pistol grip (7).
Replacing 1/4" hex. drive accessories (fig. B)
Your DEWALT Screwdriver has a 1/4" hexagonal
drive system. The drive accessory is retained in the
spindle by a ball and a spring which engages in a
groove in the accessory shank.
To replace a drive accessory (e.g. a bit holder [15])
press the release buttons (12) and pull the depth
adjustment collar (3) from the clutch housing (17).
Remove the bit holder (15) by pulling it out of the
spindle using a pair of pliers.
Push the new drive accessory (e.g. a nutsetter [18])
into the spindle until it snaps in place.
Align the ribs (13) on the inside of the collar (3)
with the grooves (16) in the clutch housing (17)
and snap the collar in place.
Replacing the bit tip (fig. B)
Proceed as described above. Do not remove the
bit holder (15).
Simply pull out the bit tip (14). A pair of pliers may
be required.
Setting the driving depth (fig. C)
The depth sensitive feature offers the following
advantages:
- the selected driving depth is repeatable for
structural integrity.
- fasteners with sealing washers are driven
correctly so that no leaks occur.
The driving depth is determined by the position of
the depth locator (4) in relation to the bit, socket or
nutsetter.
Fasteners with sealing washers
Check the screw manufacturer’s specifications
for the proper sealing washer settings in different
applications.
Drive a fastener into a waste piece and check if
the fastener is correctly seated.
If necessary, turn the depth adjustment collar (3)
counterclockwise or clockwise to decrease or
increase the driving depth respectively.
Each “click” of the collar equals a 0.02 mm
change in driving depth; one complete revolution
equals 2.10 mm.
Drive another fastener and readjust the collar (3)
until the desired setting is achieved.
Fasteners without sealing washers
Drive a fastener into a waste piece and visually
check the driving depth.
Increase or decrease the driving depth with the
help of the collar (3).
If necessary measure the torque by means of
a torque wrench referring to the screw
manufacturer’s torque specifications.
Replacing the depth locator (fig. C)
Unscrew the dust seal (19).
Replace the depth locator (4).
Tighten the dust seal (19).
Setting the direction of rotation (fig. D)
For forward rotation (screw in), release the
variable speed switch (1) and depress the
forward/reverse slider (2) on the right side of the
tool, as shown.
For reverse rotation (screw out), release the
variable speed switch (1) and depress the
forward/reverse slider (2) on the left side of the
tool, as shown.
With the forward/reverse slider in central position the
tool is locked in OFF-position.
Always release the variable speed
switch (1) and wait until the motor has
come to a complete standstill before
changing the direction of rotation.
