Ride height adjustm ent.
The ride height sh o u ld be kept to a minimum, th is will keep th e centre of gravity of th e car as low as
possible and so maximise cornering speeds. The ride height sh o u ld ideally be betw een 3 5 mm
(1/8"-3/16"), but on bum py tracks or where re gu lations dictate otherw ise ru n th e car a little higher.
Check re g u larly to com pensate for tire wear which can be
ra p id on so m e tracks.
Adjusting th e fro n t ride height.
Each fro n t ste e ring block is su p p o rte d by alum inium washers. Placing th e se under th e steering block
low ers th e chassis (less ride height) and conversely putting th e m above ra ise s th e ch a ssis, giving
more ride height.
Adjusting th e re ar ride height.
Three diffe re n t pairs of re a r axle bearing holders have been included in th
e kit, th e y are all off-set
to give 6 diffe re n t re a r axle height se ttings. Rem ove th e re a r axle and fit th e appropriate pair of
bearing holders to each end of th e re a r axle tu b e , com plete with ball bearings and put th e re a r axle
back into place. Do not fo rg e t to re -mesh your pinion and sp u r gear. Always use th e sa m e height
se tting on both sides of th
e car otherw ise th e re a r axle bearings will lock up.
Front dam per se rvicing.
Your Corally car fe a tu re s an o-ring dam ping syste m inside the fro n t sp rings. This syste m provides a
su p e rb ly sm o o th dam ping action. To se rvice th e se dam pers re m o ve th e fro n t sp rings and clean th e
dam per p osts and o-ring collars. Then add new dam per syru p around th e dam per p o sts and th e o-ring
inside th e collars.
Rear tu b e dam per se rvicing and adju stm e n t.
The re a r tu b e dam pers are a very im p o rta n t part of th e car. These dam pers control th e re a r
su sp e n sion movement.
Periodically check th a t th e movement of th e se dam pers is even and sm ooth in all dire ctions. To
change th e dam per action (stiffness) th e dam per syrup has to be re p laced by another typ e . Corally
o ffe rs 3 diffe re n t grades as fo llow ing:
#80000 Dam per Syrup, Soft
#80001 Dam per Syrup, Hard
#80002 Dam per Syrup, X-Hard
Rear dam per se tu p .
Th
e re a r dam per se tup co n tro ls th e sp e e d at which th e re a r suspension moves over bum ps and
th ro u gh tu rn s.
- If th e car is poor over bum ps th e n increasing th e re ar dam pening effect may help.
- Increasing th e re a r dam pening effect will also increase stee ring a little, remember th is when
making th is adju stm e n t for other re a so n s.
- If th e inside fro n t wheel goes light or even lift
s during cornering th e n th e dam per is to th in.
- If th e car is re luctant to change dire ction quickly enough in chicanes th e n re d u cing th e re a r
dam per effect may help.
General ru le - if th e car understeers whilst exiting corners th e n th e re a r dam per is se t to o th in. If
th e car o ve rste e rs exiting corners th e n th e dam per is to o th ick.
