TIPS TO FINAL ASSEMBLY
Fitting th e centre point ste e ring.
Screw th e 2 mm bolt into th e centre hole on your se rvo sa ver (n o t su p p lied). The th re a d e d bushing
needs to be fitte d onto th e 2 mm bolt now attached to th e se rvo save r. The flange of th e bushing
needs to be scre w ed tightly up against th e se rvo save r arm . Drop th e loop on th e end of each of th e
tw o tra ck-ro d s, over th e bushing. Once fitte d scre w th e 2 mm nut onto the bolt and tighten it up
against th e end of
th e bushing. Do not re m o ve th e play at th e centre pivot. The to lerance in th e
eyelet of th e trackrods have been designed to aid straight line stab ility . The car will be re a lly
difficult to drive if the play on th e centre point steering is being re m o ve d .
Centre point stee ring explained:
The centre point ste e ring has been designed to give th e ideal
Ackerm an angle during steering
m o ve m e n ts. This basically means th a t th e inside wheel is always at th e optimum angle to give
neutral ste e ring at all sp e e d s, th is re d u ces wheel scru b and gives highest possible cornering sp e e d s.
Optional Ackerm an settings:
The tu n ing ste e ring blocks th at are installed on th e 12X fe a tu re 3 trackrod pivot mounting locations,
each of th e m offering a litt
le diffe re n t Ackerm an.
Position 1 - More steering response.
Position 2 - Standard Ackerm an se tting.
Position 3 - Sm oother ste e ring.
Front w heel tra c k ing.
Rem ove th e dum m y tra ckro d and fit th e ends of th e trackrods into th e ball jo ints attached to the
stee ring blocks. Centre th e se rvo and se t th e fro n t wheels to ru n parallel (stra ight ahead) and th e n
tighten up th e 3mm se t scre w s. The ball jo ints are designed to with stan d crashes and sh o u ld never
be popped off th e balls; th is design prevents th e ball jo ints fro m being stre tche d and so ge tting loose
due to
se rvicing.
Radio installation.
The Electronic speed control (ESC) and th e re ce iver need to be mounted onto th e ch a ssis, using
double sided ta p e (n o t sup p lied.) Mount th e ESC first on th e chassis plate on th e left of th e car. It is
im portant th a t th e ESC is mounted in a position which keeps th e battery wire s to th e minimum
length, to minimise electrical lo sse s and potential interference pr
oblem s. Next mount your re ce iver
on the chassis plate on th e right of th e car. It is advised to keep th e crystal and aerial wire as fa r
aw ay fro m th e batteries as possible. Finally th re ad th e aerial wire th ro u gh th e o-rings on th e Anti-
ro ll mast.
Motor installation and gear meshing.
Bolt your chosen motor in place as sh o w n and fit th e appropriate pinion gear to th e sh aft of th e
motor. The 12X is designed fo r use with long boss pinions which are available fro m Corally in a wide
variety of sizes in 48 dp and 64 dp. Use a 1.5 mm se tscre w driver and ensure th a t you tighten th e 3
mm se t scre w onto th e flat on th e motor sh a ft. Refer to th e ge
ar ratio chart in th is manual fo r
advice on gear ra tio se lection. Once in place and th e gears are fitte d you need to ad just th e position
of th e motor, in th e slotted holes provided in th e motor pod, to ensure th a t th e gears mesh
sm oo th ly. A sm all am ount of play is re q u ire d betw een th e te e th of th e gears as th e y engage, tu rn
th e axle to ensure th a t they mesh consiste n tly ar
ound th e whole spur gear. Once in position tighten
